The present site occupied Midway Automotive at 411 Brockton Avenue in Abington has been in use as an auto dealership for some 40 years. Abington Subaru was at this location for over 30 years, closing its doors in 1996. The connection between Abington Subaru and present day Midway Automotive is not so obvious, though. The former general manager at the Subaru store was Phil Infiorati, a Vietnam veteran and experienced car business professional who hailed from Maine. In 1981, Phil hired a 17-year old lad from the neighborhood to work as a -lot boy. - The lad worked hard; he parked cars, swept the sales lot, went for coffee, and performed any and all manner of jobs that Phil could create. Neither had any idea how things would evolve over the years and, certainly, neither imagined how the roles would change. You see the young lad Phil hired as a -lot boy-was Abington`s own Mike Deveney, the owner principal of the present day Midway Automotive. One of first things Mike did was to bring Phil back to the new Midway Automotive as General Sale`s manager. Now, after thirteen years in business, Mike and his wife Lucy are reminiscent of the old- fashioned American success story. They worked very hard to develop and maintain an exemplary record of customer service at Midway. bought a car from these guys and boy do i regret it.
first the car was 6000 doolars which then went up 300
dollars more at signing. i asked them if the $6000 would cover everything and they said yes. but when we were finished the added $300 more for paper work, fine.
they then said that i would need to give them 13 pre-signed checks 12 check at $250 and 1 at $300,if you add that up they are ... view morecharging me $500 more than im supposed to be paying. I didnt relize this till today,and i purchased the car in march.granted it was night but when i got up the next morningi noticed a bunch of deep scratches and dents. when i drove it to the inspection place the engine light was on. so i failed. so of course i called and told them. they responded with ` well we arent asking for full coverage so i should fix it"". I said you told me if it does not pass inspection that it would be taken care of.so after a long argument they agreed to fix the car. so i took it back. and that wasn`t all
when you drive pass 60mph the whole car starts to rattle bad steering wheel everything.when i got there they said that i could do to two thing which was leave it there so that they would fix it or let them put their own inspection sticker on it,(meaning faking the readings so it would pass inspection/Fraud)then bring it back someother time. i said no cause i only have 7 days or im stuck with the car. so after a couple of days they call me back to get the car,they said they fixed it. they said go straight to the inspection place but before i got there
the engine light came back on and the car was still raddling bad. SO I CALLED THEM AGAIN.they was upset but after arguing again they said to come back.meanwhile im losing days of work at a time and using a crap load of gas going and coming from amherst to boston. so before i got to get the car over to them large clouds of black smoke was coming out of exhaust. when there they wanted me to take one of the cars on the lot and put my plates on it,also they wanted me to sign a bill of sale saying that i traded my car for the loaner in case i got pulled over ofcourse i refused.
now they said two days but it wasnt it was almost over a week. so now more days of work lost.finally i get the car back no more smoke engine light off but car still raddling.now a month went by before the car would pass inspection and they wanted to cash the first check for payment. but i couldnt then they took $100 dollars cash from me to hold off the cashing the check,they didnt even want to give a discount on the price of the being i wasout over $2000 for loos wages and gas.
but this is the worst of it all the next month i tried to call them cause the car engine and transmission just failed completely but when i called they guys said i must be mistaken that i have the wrong place.but the number was stamped right on the bill of sale. so i call and call but never got anyone, so now they start cashing the checks. the payments are due 0n the 30th of every month but they cashed the first check on the 13th then onthe 17th of the next month they cashed two checks and put the same dates on both, so not only do i not have a running car but now im getting evicted out of my place cause the money they took out of my account was the rent money and im on a month to month lease,im a single dad with two children what im i supposed to do now. boston best auto/millenium motors are the biggest con artist i ever met. sorry for this being so long, i just wanted ya to see how they play thier con play by play.
