I am unhappy with the service and especially the service after the work has been performed.

Almost got taken advantaged of
My check engine light came on and my Saab went into limp-home mode. I assumed it was my transmission, so I took it into Kennedy Transmission.
Was told that it was my IAT sensor and that it was a difficult part to find. They said the dealership didn`t have it, but was able to locate one in CO. The cost to fix $600, plus shipping for the part was $50 on top of that. I decided not to have it fixed there and they tri... view moreed to charge me $49.95 just for diagnosing the problem. I told them that I was not told of that beforehand or had signed anything agreeing to pay for a diagnose fee.
I took car next door to Napa. They put a code reader on it for free and gave me the code. They didn`t have the part, so I purchased the IAT sensor online. It was shipped to me within 2 days for $52 (incl shipping). I installed the part in less than 40 mins and my car runs fine and the check engine light is off.
Kennedy Transmission needs to stop trying to rip off their customers. I will never go there again.

Kennedy = Good Business
I wanted to take my vehicle to Kennedy Transmission & searched online for their hrs. I was surprised to see negative reviews for this place. Here`s my experience.
Many yrs ago, I had a 94 Explorer that needed a new tranny. I took it to Kennedy & they replaced it for me. No problems. Good service. I even remember thinking I would refer them to anyone I knew w/tranny problems b/c they treated so well.
Some yrs la... view moreter, I had a 02 Explorer that also needed a new tranny. (stupid Explorers...) This time I had to have it towed to their shop. They again handled everything professionally & I left feeling good about my Explorer`s new tranny as well as Kennedy.
BTW, was it cheap? Of course not. Who expects tranny work to be inexpensive? When I take a vehicle to a specialty shop like Kennedy, I take it there b/c of their expertise. Some times in life you have to pay more for experts who specialize... I like experts but I also feel I get a fair price as well there. That`s been my exact experience.
So, this week I took my 98 Caravan with a slipping transmission over to Kennedy hoping it didn`t need a rebuilt tranny. It didn`t. They serviced it & again I left feeling good about this shop.
I don`t know Mike or anyone else there & have nothing to gain by writing this. I just understand as a business owner myself, at times it`s impossible to please some people. Kennedy Transmission could have 99% happy customers like myself but they don`t take the time to write positive reviews. They`re busy w/their lives. It`s mostly the unhappy customers who are the ones that write the bad reviews which I believe can completely skew the public`s opinion of an otherwise good local business.

Poor service afterwards
I paid over $2300 for a transmission rebuild and have been back to Kennedy more than a dozen times because my transmission does not shift smooth. I tried to exercise the ATRA warranty at another ATRA shop. That shop agreed the transmission was not shifting properly but explained ATRA warranties are only good at the shop that originally did the rebuild!!!
Kennedy had me go to the dealer for another opinion. Dealer... view more also said it was the transmission causing the poor shift. Kennedy checked engine diagnostics believing it to be an engine/computer/sensor problem and came up with no engine problems. Kennedy still disagreed with the dealer (and the other ATRA shop) and would not take the transmission apart to look for the problem.
Kennedy was quick to take apart the transmission when they were ready to bill, but not when they need to cover it under warranty.
Kennedy talked a lot about good service. Lip service does nothing for a transmission problem.

Please Read!
A message from Mike.
In response to the negative comments about our shop. First of all, I feel bad that they had a less than great experience. I have helped folks solve car problems for 28 plus years. I take pride in being fair and honest. I listen to customers and try to accomodate their needs. We try to please everyone and we will continue to do so. I believe that as people read any message they will realize th... view moreat their are two sides to every story. We are committed to do right by our customers.
The outrageous cost comments did not share the fact that they wanted it repaired right away. They were given the option to repair with parts purchased from Volkswagon. It was very expensive. They were also advised that if we had more time we would certainly try to locate some good used suspension parts in addition to the needed new parts necessary to fix it. It took two of us about 45 minutes to an hour just to get the exploded wheel bearing apart just to assess the damage. Then another half hour to get the vehicle put back together so it could be towed. $35.00 for 2 plus hours of work and gathering information for pricing and repairs is not unfair or outrageous. We enjoy an excellent reputation and have earned that by being fair and honest.
The person with the exhaust midpipe concern failed to comment that he brought the vehicle in telling us he had a transmission problem. We accurately diagnosed the exhaust problem and gave him our price to replace the midpipe. He was extremely assertive in his requests for us to fix it for less. We explained that we buy our parts and charge a fair percentage mark up to arrive at a retail price. We also explained that he was well within his right to take his vehicle elsewhere to have it repaired. We did not charge him anything for our correct assessment of the problem. That is correct we charged him ZERO! We do our best to make every customer happy. Our price was competative. He chose to do something else and that is his business. We strive to give our customers accurate information, quality repairs and fair pricing.
In 28 plus years in the vehicle repair business we have always solved the problem. We certainly have been tried and tested. Vehicles today are very complex. Our shop takes pride in making the correct recommendation and repairing it or servicing it for a fair price and a great warranty that we stand behind. Thank You!

Outrageous cost!
My car broke down on the freeway, and this was the nearest towing location.
They did a ""free"" assessment and offered to repair it for $747.00, & the guy sounded genuinely concerned about me getting my car back as soon as possible....
After doing a little research of my own, I found out that the procedure takes about 45 minutes, and about $160 worth of new parts. So I was being charged a RIDICULOUS amount f... view moreor what everything is worth.
So I declined the repair offer, and the once ""caring"" mechanic turned snappy and decided that I should pay at least $35 for the ""FREE"" assessment because of the cotter pin used to put my hub assembly back together (which costs..... 20 cents? MAYBE?)
This company knows that you need your car fixed NOW so they take advantage of you as a customer.
This company disgusts me with its seemingly friendly attitude, & rip-you-off-because-we-can motives.

Transmission repairs
I have been a repeat customer of the Plymouth Kennedy transmission shop because of their great service and prices. The shop manager was very courteous to my wife and helped her understand what repairs were needed and completed the work on time and on budget.

Avoid at all cost
Name it:Avoid at all cost:
In Brief This shop management is cheaters and they utilize the opprtunity to give the price for you. No1 cheaters
Repair Need to repalce the Mid pipe with resonator for 1995 nissan altima
Cost Quoted for me: $340.00 including tax.
Cost quoted by almost all major shops like Firestone,Midas,PrecisionTune: Max is : $220
I reapired at Midas for $190 inlcuding taxes.
Wha... view moret Happened:Review: This shop is no 1 cheater and they saw my situation that my car was giginvg loud voice and mid pipe was broken and gave such a high quote $340. I inquired with all other major repir shops and nobody was giving me quote more than $220. I called back this store manager joe and explained the situation and he was insisting on same price and was not ready to listen to any of my words. I dropped the idea of repairing here and went to Midas and fixed nicely.
Mean while I send mail to corporate office of Kennedy Transmission, and person named Mike called me and asked me to send the reppair bill to him and he said he wil investigate but he did not do anything. he was just telling apology. this is another kind of cheating as if he is going to do something about this issue and give me any nice response to me..but nothing.
