Reviews:
I have been using Bert`s for years. Each time I bring my car there I feel that I get a very detailed description of the problem. I like that he is very knowledgeable and I don`t feel like I`m getting ripped off. My main reason for writing this review is to say the motto "fixed right the first time" is true. I have never brought my car back to have the same thing done. I told a relative to go there, she did... view moren`t listen, let`s just say she brought he car back to the other place twice already, and it still makes the same noises. 850.00 later I might add. I have only used Bert`s for years, thanks for keeping my car on the road and running great.

I was due to leave N.O. and was given a date my care would be ready which delayed my trip. This was understandable, especially since it was the end of the week. That is why I didn`t take it to the dealership (due to the delay of early week jobs).
I rescheduled my trip for the date that Bert promised the car would be ready. However, when the date came and I called for my car, I was informed it wasn`t going to be... view more ready. No call from Bert warning me of this.
I rescheduled my trip again based on the new promised date and guess what? Once again, not ready. When I finally got my car, the total repair bill was in excess of $2,000. Knowing nothing about cars, I just shook my head and figured what can you do.
Bert insists on having your credit card info and signature up front. He also tapes your phone conversations. At the time I didn`t find this strange, but after talking to other mechanics (at the dealership) I was informed that the price charged was probably double what I should have been charged. I say probably, because the receipt he provided was scribbled in such a way that it was almost impossible to read.
I must say that Bert is a very smart man to have stayed in business 30 years. He records you approving repairs up front. He has you credit card info up front and he makes it near impossible to determine what he actually did, something a reputable mechanic wouldn`t have to resort to, but very good evidence when he is challenged, which based upon my experience, is potentially a frequent occurrence.

Had an extreme car problem: total battery failure in a hotel parking garage. No tow truck access.
I needed to leave New Orleans that day for a business meeting in Atlanta the next.
Bert was the only mechanic in town who would help on-site. He made the drive, got us running, had one of his mechanics actually drive our car to his garage, got us a refund on the battery, installed a replacement, checked the elect... view morerical system, and only charged us for labor. Absolutely amazing. Best experience I`ve ever had with a mechanic, and I`ve been driving for 25 years. This is the guy you want fixing your car.

I have used Bert`s over ten years. There has never been a problem or question that Bert or his employees could not handle. When other repair shops or dealerships in the past worked on my car, the problems were rarely fixed on the first visit, usually, at my expense. However, since finding Bert`s I have never had to bring my car back for the same problem. I recommend him to everybody. He takes the time to diagnos accu... view morerately without guess work. Simply, amazing.

HORRIBLE ATTITUDE & PRACTICES
This mechanic claims he`s the best in the business and uses lines such as "I`ve been in business for over 30 years," "I have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau," and "I`m a Christian man" to lure customers to go to his body shop for repairs or services. I brouht my vehicle there because I had just moved to the Metairie area and didn`t know where else to bring it. Plus, it was ... view moreconvenient from my job. Now, I regret ever allowing him to even touch my car! He tried to rip me off and charge me almost a grand for work that wasn`t even necessary! After I got a 2nd opinion, it turns out...all I needed was a new sensor for less than a hundred bucks!
If that doesn`t make you think twice, maybe this will: Just today, I found out that one of my coworkers` friends recently took her vehicle to Bert as well and he literally blew it up and caught it on fire! All she needed was a simple oil/break check! Now, the vehicle is titled as a "total loss" and she`s carless! He didn`t seem to think it was a big deal stating "Don`t worry, your insurance will cover it." Christian man eh? I think not! Been in business for over 30 years now? Don`t see how. A+ rating with the B.B.B.? Not anymore, buddy!
