Good Food!

The food was great, as promised by other reviews, but the outside could really use a power wash! It was so dirty, we hesitated about going in. The people were nice and efficient. The restrooms could use an upgrade too. I`ve driven by this place for 40 years and never stopped, but I would stop again if I had the chance. Cannot comment on the tiger controversy -- we did not take the time to see it.

Tiger Truck Stop is the BEST!

I`ve been to the Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete, La so many times I can`t count. We always stop there on our family vacations. I love the Tiger, he is so beautiful and majestic. We always have lunch at the truck stop restaurant and if you want some down home style cooking its the best! We plan on going to Tiger Truck Stop this summer. We have heard so many good things about it. I have seen so many videos of this place I can`t wait to take the grand kids. Louisiana is getting our vacation this year!

Tony the Tiger in Great Conditions with a Loving Owner!

Tony the Tiger is in a perfectly healthy condition with an enclosure much larger than any zoo or private sanctuary would typically give him, actually 4 times the size of the minimum requirements! He is fed top of the line zoo carnivore diet and is seen regularly by a veterinarian. His owner, Mr. Sandlin, loves him as a family member not a novelty or pet. Obviously by stating things about the ""cruelty"" or previou... view mores ""3 tigers removed"" the other review has no clue what it is talking about. As far as the noise or light again you have no clue. Neither of you have actually been to this truck stop just by those comments alone. How can you review a place you have false information about and have never been to? ""The feds cited them 10 times for animal abuse"" ... are u sure about that, the feds did it, really? Anyways, the point in a reviewer is to review something that you have been to, attended, seen with your own two eyes, etc. Clearly neither of you fall under any of those categories. There is nothing in the slightest wrong with The Tiger Truck Stop, the conditions of Tony the Tiger or Tony`s owner Michael Sandlin. Speak about what you actually know, not what you think or what someone else has filled your head with!

Tony The Tiger

The Tiger Truch Stop in Grosse Tete Louisiana has been the focus of MANY of my families vacation. My children have grown up watching Tony. Every vacation my children ask ""are we going by to see Tony"" so every vacations travel plans have been routed through Tete Louisiana.
The love that Michael (Tony`s owner) shows for his cat is BAR NONE! Better enclosure than most zoo`s, and its very disheartening to see t... view morehe bad comments left by Sky Williamson, who has her own agenda trying to take him away from his family.
Everytime I have seen Tony he was playing with his toys, or enjoying his air conditioned den, or just loving the people who stopped to see the world famous Tony.
It would be a horrible injustice to have someone listen to the hateful woman, and not go see Tony for yourselves. Take my word for it, you would glad you did (except you will have to route every vacation from then on to go and see Tony) HA

Definately Worth the Visit

Tiger Truck Stop is one of my favorite places to stop on my way through. The food is great. The staff is very courteous & the owner treats the customers like family. The highlight of my visits are with Tony. He always has chuffs for me whenever he sees me. He`s so personable & well taken care of. I recommend this to anyone near Grosse Tete. You`ll love everything about Tiger Truck Stop.

ANIMAL CRUELTY-BASED BUSINESS

This truck stop has a real tiger on display under cruel and blatantly illegal conditions. Here is a partial quote from an animal welfare group`s webpage: "In all cases, most people exclaim, ........................."How can that be legal?" Turns out it isn`t. Unfortunately, a lot of places allow this sort of disgraceful exhibit, but Iberville Parish, where the truck stop is located, has banned such displays sinc... view moree 1993. So why is there a live tiger in a tiny cage next to the gas pumps in this 24 hour truck stop? Because the Iberville Parish doesn`t want to enforce their own rules against "one of their own." Big Cat Rescuers visited the site and noted that the fumes were noxious and the sound of the dieseling trucks was deafening and unrelenting. There are flood light`s on the tiger`s cage so that he never has a minute of darkness and never gets a moment of peace from those who yell at him and throw things at him to make him move.
