Beware of Jim Wickman Auto Repair and Sales
This place doesn`t even deserve one star. Took my car in and was charged $450.00 to replace a fuel pump. About 30 minutes after I picked up the car (and the shop was closed), my car began to have the same problem, only WORSE!!
Took the car back and we had to pay another $280.00 for additional repairs and because the mechanic didn`t actually fix the issue. An hour later, the car was having the very same issue! ... view more NOTHING WAS RESOLVED, NOTHING WAS ACTUALLY FIXED! Now, we are out $700.00 for incompetent work and still no resolution.
Ended up having to take our car to ILCC Automotive Repair department and guess what they had to repair? THE FUEL PUMP. We paid yet another 300.00 to have the fuel pump replaced. After that the car drove wonderfully.
Took Jim Wickman/Rick Swalve to court and they showed up with a copy of a receipt that didn`t even match the type of fuel pump that was pulled off of our vehicle by the mechanics at ILCC. This means that we were charged over $700.00 for repairs that were never done!!!!
Found out after the fact that most people in Emmetsburg know not to take their cars to this shop. Seeing as how we are college students and haven`t been living here very long, we did not know this. Please, save yourself time, money and heartache by finding an honest and trustworthy mechanic.

Took the car back and we had to pay another $280.00 for additional ""repairs"" , the mechanic Rick Swalve never called us to get approval on any of the work he did the second time. Now, we are out $700.00 for incompetent work and still no resolution. Save your hard earned dollars and take your vehicle to a reputable, professional mechanic who is not in the business of charging customers after not actually fixing a thing.
As of 11/01/09 - Here is an update. My husband and I had to take my vehicle to ILCC auto repair and guess what they had to replace? The FUEL PUMP that Wickman ""supposedly"" replaced. The two wonderful mechanics at ILCC that looked at my vehicle said that the pump that Wickman put on my car didn`t work (or was never replaced). Now we are in the process of going to small claims court in order to get back the money that Wickman basically stole from us.
My husband just returned from court. The ""copy"" of the receipt that Wickman brought to court for the fuel pump DID NOT match the make/model/part number for the fuel pump that ILCC pulled off of our vehicle. So obviously Wickman NEVER BOUGHT OR INSTALLED A NEW FUEL PUMP ON OUR VEHICLE!!!
FYI: My husband and I have NEVER sued anyone over anything before.
