I took my car to Pete`s, because they were one of the only places open on a Saturday and my sun roof on my 2001 BMW 330I was open and wouldn`t close. Since it was supposed to rain over the weekend, I had no choice but to try and get it closed. I dropped it off at Pete`s on Saturday morning and they told me they would give me a call to let me know what they found. I had not heard from them at 12:45 p.m. (they close at... view more 1:00 p.m.) so I called them. Todd proceeded to inform me that my car not only needed a new sunroof motor, but about $2,500 worth of additional service. I found this to be very odd, because my car had just been in the shop and had a lot of work done (it was in a wreck, so the front end had gone through quite a bit of repair), including some of the things they mentioned. They said I needed new rear brake pads, a new control arm, etc., etc. When I saw the estimate, I went over to pick the car up because I simply couldn`t justify putting that much money into it. The guy told me NOT to touch the sunroof whatever I did. They had cranked it closed, but he didn`t want me messing with it, because it needed a new motor (or so he said). After picking it up, I took it back to the place I had originally had work done. They just happened to be working that Saturday and when I showed them the estimate they were shocked and appalled. They tried the sunroof and guess what - it worked!!! They proceeded to tell me there is a reset button on it and that it just needed to be reset. They also proceeded to tell me that my rear brake pads still have 40% wear left on them and that my control arm was in good shape. Clearly, Pete`s was a scam and was just looking for some extra $$$$.

Pete`s Repaired My Car Without Breaking My Bank

This is my first review so here goes. I drive a 2001 BMW 5 Series and have most always gone to Dreyer & Reinbold. During the most recent trip for an oil change the dealer found a few things that needed attention and showed me an estimate for repairs of about $1275 for front end suspension work. In all fairness I had noticed a shake and shimmy up front but attributed it to the car`s mileage and kind of avoided it... view more. I`ll be clear here and say why I didn`t have Dreyer fix my car...on the estimate they`d noted I needed washer fluid. They wanted to charge me $8 for washer fluid ON TOP of a $1275 repair. Come on guys...can you not throw it in if I give you that kind of money? I was a little miffed to say the least. I went in to Pete`s because I`d driven by the shop several times, always noticing many BMW and Mercedes out front...busy must mean good, one would hope, right? I didn`t tell them of the trip to Dreyer and asked them to inspect my car giving them little information as to what was going on with it. They came up with the exact same diagnosis as Dreyer to fix my car at $934 along with a little something extra...my washer tank was leaking fluid out of a small grommet where the pump goes. They fixed the grommet and filled the tank with washer fluid for free. I chose to have Pete`s do the work at a quote $341 dollars less than the dealer for the same quality parts, and in my opinion, better service. Sometimes it`s the little things that make the big difference. Thanks Pete`s! I will be back and I will bring friends.

A drive belt broke on my 2001 ...

A drive belt broke on my 2001 BMW 5 series as it was past replacement time. I called a few local shops. Pete`s took the time to explain the probable cause of the problem, get my car in and repaired in quickly, and charged a price near 1/2 of what the dealer would have cost. The only thing they are good at is price gauging.

I chose this repair place out of desperation. I was standed on the side of the road, wasn`t familiar with the area, searched and called a few places in the phone book, and they were the only ones to answer. After being quoted a price of $3,100 fix my van I was told it would only cost $900 to get it running again. The rest of the quote was for maintenence they said I needed. I called my local mechanic, and he quoted m... view moree price of $500. Needless to say, I`m having my van towed back home to have the work done.

P.S. They charged me $97 (one hour of labor) to tell me what was wrong. While I understand that a diagnostic fee is a standard charge no mechanic that fixes ordinary cars is woth $97 an hour.
