What a total nightmare! You will be sick to your stomach!
I was in the car business for 11 years, so i know the tactics. They are upsell artists, they tell you anything to get you in the dooor and when you get you there they try to sell you everything under the sun. They stripped two lug nuts and studs on a simjple tire change after we refused to buy all their extra crap. They shouldve not used the gun or put lubrication on the lug before they muscled or forced it off strip... view moreping it. They wanted to charge me $75 xtra for damage they caused. After arguing with me about whose fault this was and saying my wife shouldnt drive the car, i gave in and he refused to do the work because of the way I talked to him. My wife drove off with my 3 month old baby boy with 2 lugs missing on the front tire, real safe. Brian, the owner Glenn`s son quoted me a cheap price to get me in the door and when the problem came up he refused to talk to me on the phone. When Glenn the father called my co-worker he exlcaimed that..""we have enough business here"" , implying he didnt need anymore referrals. I haven`t felt like i was being this screwed in a very long time. it is a sick feeling. I took the car to another place and they fixed the the lug nuts and studs that Duxler stripped for $35, Duxler demanded $75. I was in the car business for 11 years so im no stranger to their tactics. when they couldnt upsell me brakes, an alignment, and an oil change, they screwed up the car and tried to add $75 to the bill and when i didnt go for it they weren`t interested in doing the work. this is the first time i ever drove off from the mechanic with the car in worse shape than when i arrived. i cannot even give these people 1 star. they put my 3 month old baby boy Franco in an extermely dangerous situation. unless you are ready to spend thousands of dollars on your car, don`t bother and even then be careful.

Up-selling work? ...
I`ve gone to Duxler 4 times over 2 years. I go to them because they are in the area, fairly fast with their repairs and their work has proven to be dependable.
I`ve noticed that every time I`ve gone there, they always find other problems with my car that they strongly recommend need to be fixed.
They`ve never said to me - we`ve done the work you wanted - here`s your bill. Instead its always - "by the w... view moreay - we found some issues with your car that you`re going to want to fix". They even demonstrate the problems and show me the issues while the car is on the rack, every time I`ve gone there. Always a convincing show and tell.
They have never said - "that part is getting old, but there`s time - it`s not a new car"
Maybe they have actually done me a favor by finding problems I would have missed - I can imagine a nice debate over this issue.
Hopefully more of you will write in to see if this is the trend with Duxler (hopefully not ?) - because if they are always up-selling work and sticking people with outrageous bills all the time (like my experience has been) - then maybe its a problem.

Very Accomodating
My son is in town from Iowa for the weekend. He got in late last night with car trouble and a very tight schedule. Since everybody at the C of C breakfast seemed to think well of you and Duxler I took him over to your shop on Green Bay Road in Evanston. Very helpful, pleasant knowledgeable people. Since he was out of town they were able to slip him in without discomoding anybody else. Leroy, the mechanic who looked a... view moret his car, found and fixed the problem very quickly and got him on his way.

great all around
The Duxler guys give the best service available anywhere and at a reasonable price. I know my car will run well after a visit there, because they not only do the specified maintenance, but check all the other systems, too. It`s routine for them to check for and replace burned out bulbs, worn brake parts, etc. And, when they say your car will be ready when you need it, it is! Thanks, Duxie!

Not so happy
I brought in two rims and tires and wanted to get the tires rotated so they could wear evenly on the car. They said no problem and said it would cost $25 a tire. Came back to pick them up in about an hour and they were scratched beyond repair. I was lucky they were only velocity replica wheels but they still looked to be OEM Audi RS4 wheels. The OEM wheels are over $1,000 each. I noticed the scratches when i got home... view more because they loaded them in my car and I did not think to check them over. They knew that they where scratched but did not say anything to me. I decided to bring the wheels to someone else to switch my other two rims and tires. I told them what Duxler did and showed them. One mechanic laughed and said, "haha i know who the mechanic was who scratched them. He is 17 years old and has no clue what he is doing." So they give Audi wheels to the 17 year old in training. Good shop for cheap cars. DO NOT BRING THEM ANYTHING NICE!!!
