I went into this shop because ...
I went into this shop because I was told that I needed a new transmission on my 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue( a $1500- $2300 fix mind you). and they were the closest option. I decided to go in and get an estimate for the transmission. The man took me for a test drive in my car and plugged it in to their computer. Right away he told me it wasn`t my transmission. There were smaller much more affordable problems! Needless t... view moreo say I was happy about hearing that. He looked up all the costs of my parts and the price for labor and it came out that I was going to be paying less than half of what I expected. These guys were phenomenal. They told what was wrong with my car in words I could understand and let me know about any other little problems that were wrong. I wasn`t able to get everything fixed today but I will definitely be going back to J&J for my next problems. It was affordable and my car was only gone for 4 hours. Now its running great and no longer making funny noises. Granted its only been out of the shop for about an hour.

I trust these guys. I started at J&J when I needed a transmission but now take my 2004 Jeep Cherokee there for everything. Just last week I had my car inspected at a national chain after doing an emmisions test there on appointment. (There was a scraping brake noice I wanted them to check out.)- They came up with 8 things that needed to be fixed. I took my car to Mike and J&J and he identified which things a... view morectually needed to fixed (only 5) and his prices were the same or lower on every single item! It`s the only place I`ll go.

I`ve been going to them for about 14 years. They`re good guys that do honest work. It may not be the nicest looking shop, but they`re affordable.

Bad experience
Let me start by saying I didn`t have my transmission rebuilt or replaced by this company so I cannot say how well they do on that end. I recently had some problems with my 1998 Honda Accord V6, check engine light came on and D4 indicator was flashing. I took it to the dealership and they said they would have to replace something else before they could even diagnose the problem. I was going to take the car to Aamco, b... view moreut after seeing how many complaints they had online I decided to give a local smaller shot a try. Big mistake, I had misgivings about going before I even dropped the car off (should have listened to my instincts). I dropped the car off and showed them the initial estimate the dealer gave me (the one where they had to replace something else before they could even look at the transmission) and asked if there would be any costs for an estimate. He told me he would look at the wiring, part of what dealer had to change (to my knowledge I don`t remembering giving them the okay to change the wiring if something was wrong, just wanted to know if tranny was going bad) and call me back to let me know what was wrong. I get the call back a couple of hours later and he say the tranny needs to replaced (what I thought in the first place after doing some research online) and that it would be about $1500 - $2000 to fix it (inline with what I thought they would charge). Then he tells me I owe a $100 bucks for the wires they changed and a hour of labor. I was like wait a minute I don`t remember telling you yahoos to change any wires and I know you didn`t call me to ask if it was okay if you changed the wires. I was like forget it, I`ve heard horror stories about small businesses like this holding people`s car hostages so I paid the $100 when I went to pick up the car. Now this is the bad part of the story. The car wasn`t really doing to well in D4 or D3, but was driving pretty much normal in 2 and 1. I get there pay the $100 and hop in my ride. I notice the check engine light wasn`t on anymore or the D4 indicator wasn`t flashing anymore either so I was like sweet maybe they fixed something and the $100 wasn`t wasted. Then I start to drive the car. I try it in D4 to see if that`s any better (before it took a while for it to catch into gear so it was like you were slamming on the gas and the car going no where), it seemed to work like normal for a couple of minutes and then the tranny starts slipping in and out of gear. I pull into a parking lot and was like crap better go back to trust 2 and get home. To my surprise putting it in 2 or 1 didn`t work anymore. I put it back in D4 and limp back home. At a stop light I gave D3 a try and that seemed to be a little better (still slipping) and I made it home. I told my dad about the whole thing and he told me I should never have took it to a smaller shop that they don`t always know how to work on foreign cars (my bad for that). Moral of the story I took my car to J & J for an estimate and ended up paying a $100 I didn`t think I was going to pay (wouldn`t have let them work on it if I knew I was going to be charged) and my car was worse off than when I gave it to them. Would not go there again!
