you people that are complaining about Mike`s Towing, why did you put 5 stars down? That means GREAT, you saw run, dont walk, and you thought that meant run away. You people dont seem to understand, if ANY tow company lets you in to see your vehicle without being paid, chances are that if it is not driveable, and you DO NOT have FULL coverage insurance, you would walk away from the whole thing after you get your stuf... view moref out of the vehicle. This is typical with most towing companies, you just got pissed off because you had an accident, parked someplace you were not supposed to park.... Their equipment isnt FREE, especially semi wreckers... DUH

BEWARE!!!! MIKES TOWING SCAM!!!!!

Last night I was in a minor car accident in which required a tow. The accident took place on rand rd about 0.3 miles from Mikes Towing. The car was immediately brought back to Mikes Towing but after the receptionist business hours so I had to wait until the following morning to pick up my car.

Upon arrival they told me the cost for less than a 1 mile tow would be $590. In addition, they were rude and insultin... view moreg to my family when we nicely asked why the cost was so high. The managers exact words were "" next time you get in an accident get full coverage so you dont have to pay for anything."" We were left with no choice at the time but to pay the $590.

Considering there is very little that can be done with the BBB becuase they have the right to charge whateveer they want, I can only share my experience in hopes you will remember this if you ever need a tow in wauconda. There are several other tow companies in the area to call and I GUARANTEE you will not be charged even half of Mikes Towing fee`s.

Thanks for reading and please understand I have never felt the urge to blog about a company especially negatively but I am so upset after leaving there I felt this was the best way to share my experience with them.

Excellent Service!

I recently went there as a walk in customer for their $15.95 oil change special. I had never been there before, so I did not know what to expect. What I got was excellent service in less than 30 minutes. The service manager came out and personally explained to me a few needs and recommendations for my car. There was NO pressure to buy anything that day, but I did come back the following week to have my brakes replace... view mored. Again, they took care of my car perfectly. These stories I read are oh so familiar with mechanics (towing outfits). I have a large landscaping bussiness and it is so hard to find a good honest mechanic.Sounds like the same old story with this guy.I will heed the warnings of the people who have been ripped off by this guy and move on. New manager is great!!

They have a new shop foreman and I couldn`t be happier with their service! There have been a lot of changes there recently, and the new shop manager, John is great. Over the past year and a half, I`ve had several vehicle repairs done at Mike`s and I`m very pleased with their quality and pricing. He`s always given us competitive prices and he actually returns calls like he says he would! These guys are great!!

Theirs nothing about this business that would surprise me! Like having a truck towed into their shop.Being told the motor was no good. They say they replace it. But some time later I find out the only thing they replaced was the flywheel. Then cleaned and painted the motor and replaced it back in the truck selling me my own motor! AVOID MIKES TOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great place to tow your car if youre looking for a rip off

Mikes towing is a corrupt business with no sense of common courtesy. After getting in an accident where my window had to be broken to extract me from the car, mikes towing left my car out side in a snow storm, uncovered after I had made several phone calls to them asking them to cover it up. Also, they are making me pay 545 dollars before I will be able to acess my vital prescription medications that were in the car.... view more My car has been there since saturday night at 5:00, it is now Monday Morning, and they are claiming a 3 day storage fee is normal. Mike`s Towing, Inc in Wauconda, IL

My husband Bill drives a semi truck for a living and on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2009, he was in Lake Zurich, IL. He parked his tractor and trailer in an abandon K-Mart parking lot for about 1 hour while he walked down the street to get something to eat. He did know that the parking lot had signs posted ""no parking"" vehicles will be towed; however it was 13 degrees outside, he had not eaten all day and there was... view more no where else to park and he was waiting to load on Wednesday morning. While walking back to his truck, he saw his truck (with the motor running) and trailer being towed away by Mike`s Towing, Inc out of Wauconda, IL. The man driving the truck would not tell my husband who called him and as far as we know he took it upon himself to tow away the truck. The real problem is that Mike`s Towing charged my husband, who is out there working hard and making very little with fuel prices as high as they are a sum of $2100.00 to tow the truck 5 miles. Now my husband knows that he shouldn`t have parked in a ""no parking"" zone, and we don`t have a problem paying for towing but we think $2100.00 is a crime. I would like everyone in your area, the Wauconda and the Lake Zurich areas to know what kind of company Mike`s Towing is. That they would charge a hard working man that kind of money to tow a truck 5 miles is not only a crime but very poor business ethics. I think someone is getting a cut of this money and it might be the realtor who has this property listed. They would be Hiffman Realators. ,
