DON`T WASTE YOUR TIME BAD WORK RUDE

Had a rear end collision on my Minivan- Needed new overhead door-replaced door & dorr either did not open or did not close for a period of 5 weeks. Made 7 returns & was told at about the 3rd we really don`t know the problem. I gave them 7 YES & opprtunities to repair it until I blew my stack & walked out. They are so un-knowledgeable they had to call state farm 3 times to come back out for assisstance in what the dam... view moreage was. Their own mechanic told me personally I really don`t know what that loud ticking noise is . I was appalled.Each employee told me a different answer. I finally went to a dealer & had the car fixed properly. Theyf ound the problem in 7 minutes. CarStar took 7 returns. An absolute joke. The owner Hides when you ar elooking for him to confront the problem. A real coward.Please learn from me do not go there you will pay hundreds out of pocket to eith correct their mistakes

Avondale is Top Notch!

I found this post as I was looking for an e-mail address to tell Avondale how happy I was with my recent repairs! . This was my second trip to Avondale, it is a bit of a drive from my home, but well worth the trip. I have ALWAYS been treated courteously and respectfully by everyone at Avondale (including John). My car was finished on-time and I am completely satisfied with the results! Was a nice touch to pick up a c... view morelean car, I am the mother of 3 children and I can tell you that it was not ""clean"" when I brought it in ; ). I hope I don`t have to go back again any time soon, but if I have the need, I will return to Avondale. I would definitely ( and have) recommended them to several of my friends. As for the post by ""anonymous"", I wouldn`t give it a lot of thought. What kind of person writes terrible things about another person and posts personal information but yet chooses to remain ""anonymous"" themselves. A person who claims to have ""owned"" a body shop themselves but yet is not still in that line of work?? Sounds like someone is a little bitter that their business failed. Anyways, I think Avondale is great! Thanks for a job well done, I will be a customer for life!

Best Auto Body shop in Chicago

I was very surprised by the last post. My family and I have gone to Avondale for years, and trust them completely. Their work has always been exceptional. The employees are always friendly and courteous.
They explain everything thoroughly to you throughout the whole process of the repair. It`s hard to find a car repair place you can trust, but I totally trust Avondale. They work with insurance companies and ... view morerental companies and at least try and take some of the headaches out of an accident. I will always bring my car repairs to them, and would recommend them highly. I have also dealt with John several times, and he is always professional and goes out of his way to help. I can`t believe the last post was even allowed on this sight. It was disrespectul, rude and slanderous; and doesn`t benfit anybody. I hope whoever wrote it, seeks some type of counseling. A ""professor"" writing garbage like that? To everyone at Avondale Carstar, thank you and keep up the good work!

Belligerent, rude, and confrontational, avoid at whatever the expense.

John Giardino, estimator at Carstar Avondale (4860 Elston Ave, Chicago, IL) was confrontational and dodging questions from day one. Customer service is obviously not their #1 priority, however making aprofit at whatever expense it means to an automobile owner is.

I had my doubts going to a body shop that has ties to insurance companies as a ""direct repair"" shop. My car is 10 months old, and was struck while ... view moreparked by someone traveling at about 50 MPH.

When I did finally receive an estimate, the estimate was incomplete, leaving out major portions of damage (e.g. engine damage, interior damage, buckled roof). When asked about it, was blown off. Would only offer a initial estimate, refused to do a ""tear down"" and provide a revised estimate. Today, I asked for an estimate using new parts, and John stated ""No. I`m not writing you an estimate using new parts. If you want one, have your insurance company write one."" ""I think it`d be best if you take your car somewhere else."" At this point, he was yelling and extremely rude. I would not let them work on my kids wagon.

I am no stranger to automobiles. I owned a body shop years ago and have 15 years of auto body repair experience. I have written estimates, done all aspects of body repair, but currently I am a school teacher and professor at a university. I know what I am talking about when it comes to cars. Apparently, Carstar, or more specifically, John at Carstar has a problem with that.

Bottom line, my car has been there 18 days, and is the same as when it arrived. It is leaving by tow truck again tomorrow to go to another shop, and these chumps charged $475 for a 5.62 mile tow, $900 in storage, and a $100 administration fee (what is being administered?).
*UPDATE* Car was moved to another shop to get teardown estimate, which Carstar refused to do. Additional $9000 in damage found, not found previously by carstar. Block & Trans cracked. Thanks for the thorough estimate and quality service, Carstar!
