Editorial review from Citysearch
Presently in the market for a used pickup. Visited multiple dealers and test drove a number of trucks on the weekend, this was the only dealer that seriously turned me off. Tried out a used `06 F-150 with reasonably low milage. The truck had a few issues that I discovered during a test drive - Broken Windshield, Pulling to the right, poor acceleration, several malfunctioning accessories, and a few other issues. I... view more mentioned some of these problems to the salesman (Bill Schultz) and was assured that they - and any other issues - would of course be taken care of before sale. When I asked about having the vehicle taken to a 3rd party mechanic for an inspection, the salesman was quite reluctant - Said he`d have to clear it with a higher up first. He tried to tell me that any shop I`d take it to would just be in it to take my money and tell me about any possible problem I could ever have with the vehicle. And he assured me that the in-house mechanics had done a full inspection prior to putting the vehicle on the lot - Strange, considering the obvious and (mostly) easily fixed issues noted by me. Funny, every other dealer I went to had no issue with 3rd party inspections - Two actually encouraged it without me asking. Makes you wonder what Mountain Home has to hide. On the cracked and chipped windshield, the salesman said that their windshield contractor came by every 1-2 weeks. This truck, according to the carfax, had been on the lot for over a month. I have friends who have shopped here with similar results. The salesman seemed high pressure and shady. Really turned me off. Steer away.

BEWARE
We do not live in Idaho so we were working closely with a salesman named Bill Schultz to make sure the truck we were interested in was exactly what we wanted. Bill stated he would drive the truck and text us that it was getting for mileage. Bill texted 18 mpg in the city and 24mpg with the wind. He mentioned several other things but the text was too long to rewrite here in this complaint. We also asked him to do a co... view moremplete inspection of the inside and outside and tell us what the flaws are on the truck. Bill advised my husband that the truck was completely clean with no flaws, as a matter of fact he said

Information to protect yourself
Let me start by saying I am not the type of person that posts negative comments or complaints online about bad experiences. In fact, I wish more people would post positive experiences that negative, but this one warrants posting to save others out there from falling prey to the tactics of the Mountain Home Auto Ranch dealership. What transpired was a classic Bait-n-Switch. In fact it was # 5 on the top dealersh... view moreip Scams to watch out for when buying a new car. Here it is. Despite several opportunities to disclose that the car was a demo car, they never did disclose and represented the car as brand new. No stickers saying demo, all website advertising (over 10 places) advertised the car as having 4 miles on it. Again the mileage never disclosed despite several opportunities to tell us the buyer. Expecting the car to be as advertised ""NEW"" we never looked at the odometer on test drive. Long story short we negotiated and went all the way to contract before we noticed in the paperwork the car had 3,811 miles on it. When we called it out they claimed it was in fact a new car because it had not been registered. After some research, yes this is technically true due to Idaho state laws allowing dealerships to not have to register if under 4,000 miles. When we questioned the non-disclosure, they still claimed it was in fact a new car. While it may be new in their mind it was in fact a used ethically and also manufacturer warranty wise. So yes, we caught them on this one and backed out of the deal, especially when the Finance Manager said ""well you don`t Have to buy it"", and we did not. We wasted an entire Sunday and fuel to go there on promises of a great deal on a NEW car. Also note our finance interest rate magically went lower and lower in a 30 minute sales negotiation period to make the payment work. Clearly all profit driven. I did call the GM of Mountain Home Auto Ranch, Mr. Dennis Todd McCurry about our experience before posting this complaint. He apologized as would be expected, said he would look into what happened and promised to call me back the following day by 5pm. It has now been 48 hours and now return call or explanation. Please do your research before you go to this dealership. -patrick

I was treated like their Best Friend
I saw my truck when I had stopped in to get parts for my old truck. After getting my old truck repaired I inquired about the Hemi i had looked at before. The price had recently been reduced into my price range. I was very excited and decided to trade in my `03 Hemi 1500. There was absolutely NO pressure to buy. The sales staff gave me the lowdown on all the specs and capabilities. I would absolutely recommend buying... view more from the Auto Ranch. And plan on making all future purchases from them.

BEWARE!!!
CUSTOMERS BEWARE! The mechanics at Mountain Home Auto Ranch are the sloppiest mechanics i have EVER dealt with! OH and just FYI...if you look up Mountain Home Auto Ranch in the Better Business Bureau, you will see that the rating they received is an F. 13 customers complaints were filed against them in the last 3 years and 8 of the 13 complaints have not been resolved. Here is my experience with them... On Feb 23, ... view more2009 vehicle was brought in for transmission service, fluid flush and filter replacement. Service was complied with and documents state ""Leaks no longer present."" Well, i drove the vehicle home that evening and found a puddle of transmission fluid under the engine the next morning. I immediately brought back the vehicle and complained about the leak again. Turns out that they did not tighten down a hose clamp after they serviced the system, so of course it pissed out fluid everywhere. On June 02,2009 vehicle was brought in to have brake pads & shoes replaced. MH Auto Ranch replaced the pads & shoes and also machined the rotors and drums. Service was completed and i picked up the vehicle later that day. On the way home, i tested the brakes and found them taking WAY TOO LONG to completely stop the car. On top of that, the brakes started squealing loudly after 1 hour of driving the car in town. Their brake job made the car very irritating & unsafe to drive. I took it back the next day and they said that the problem was the after-market pads & shoes that i bought from SCHUCKS were too thick (even though SCHUCKS ran the computer to find the match for my car). I ended up listening to the service advisor and went for the MOPAR pads & shoes and she said that she was going to tell the mechanic to make sure the brake job was PERFECT. What a bunch of CRAP! 1 Week after the brake job, brakes started squealing again! That same day MH Auto Ranch did the brake job, they found the coolant bypass housing to be leaking anti-freeze. Had them go ahead and fix that, but now, 5 months later, vehicle has the same coolant bypass housing leak problem. Oh and by the way, it`s STILL leaking transmission fluid under the hood! This very moment, the car is at the Larry Miller Chrysler dealership in Boise to fix what the Mountain Home Auto Ranch FAILED to repair. This is my first time dealing with Larry Miller and i`m hoping that they have better mechanics that will finally take care of these problems instead of just sucking me dry of my money.
