Terrible Customer Service

The person or dare I say woman who answers the phone there is so rude. She treated me impolitely over a miscommunication between herself and my insurance company, failed to give me important information for my tow and purposely made me wait to get a driver when my tow was rescheduled. (This I confirmed with the driver) The driver was great however it is obvious that this company could care less about customer service... view more and honestly I would pay more and wait longer to give my money to someone who appreciates it especially in this economy. I hate knowing they made money from my business and were so rude. I made sure my insurance company knew about it so that they would find better service that is reflective of their own customer service standards.

A happy customer

I`ve been a customer with H&R for over 7 years with 2 different cars. In every case that I`ve dealt with them, I have been satisfied with their work. As a ""shade tree mechanic"" in the past, I find that their recommendations are consistently honest (even when they could have easily inflated the job in question) and I appreciate the care that they take in explaining the work. horrible experience

I`m SOOOO disappointed in this place. They put a clutch in my car not even 2 years ago -- charged me $1200 -- that only lasted 9,000 miles! I took my car back in to them and they told me I`m hard on the clutch. Yeah right. I`m a 50-year-old woman who drives only to do errands on the weekend, not an 18-year-old hot rodder! They refused to take any responsibility, saying the warrantee was only for a year (now I know w... view morehy). I told them they don`t have any legal obligation to me, but as a consumer, I really cannot afford to pay $1200 every year for a new clutch, and I would think they would want to do right by me. (Nice try.) I don`t know if they neglected to install a flywheel or if they installed a used clutch or just a clutch instead of the whole assembly.... the owner said he was ""too busy"" to talk to me and he`d call me when he could, to ""work with"" me. That was two weeks ago. (Dude, it`s winter and I have asthma; I need my car.) In the meantime, I found a great automotive place and the owner is trading with me: new clutch and flywheel installation for a web site (I`m a professional web developer). Awesome. Not only do I not have to pay to replace H&R`s inferior work, but I get to help their competitor at the same time. Works for me.

great tow great service

I have had many cars in my time, and this place real showed me there can be honest trustworthy auto shops out there. I have had many run ins with such places like Firestone where i go in for a simple installation of shocks and come out with a major oil leak that wasent there before. But anyhow not here to trash others just giving an idea of what kinds of things i have been thru. This place the tow driver offered to t... view moreow to their auto shop and for cheaper than taking elsewhere, I was stranded and worried I didnt want my car going back to that other place but was really only place i knew of. He offered there and knew i didnt want it to go back to *shivers* that place. He took really good care of my car, and the work done was only what i needed and fair price too. They even cleaned my car lol something i rarely do. And suprise nothing was wrong with my car when i left. They are the only auto shop tow place i even have programed into my cell phone, my car has broken down again and they were the first ones i called. I dont think i would ever call anyone else other than family. They have proven their worthyness to me. And for those that have issues cause they in to much of a hurry take some advice.. slow down enjoy life and be patient do you have people at your desk yelling at you to hurry up that they need to get thru. Sorry i seen other post and had to write i normally dont do reviews but im sorry. ANY TOW PLACE would of had same issue.

REBUTAL

In responce to an incident involving an H and R Tow truck driver and a traffic blockage in Forest Park located near Hanna and Harrision, I was the driver. Let me clear up some discrepencies in the story. I was aked to assist in the loading of a vehicle onto a trailor whose loading winch had failed midway into the loading procedure. Anyone who has needed assistance from a Tow Truck Driver knows sometimes minor obstructions are unavoidable, but if the driver is allowed to do his or her job unhindered the obstruction time is minimal. I am a professional, as are all the drivers, and i have been doing this for twenty+ years.

Not The Best

Everything I`ve done to change the ranking to ""Not Recommended"" has failed. I don`t think that this site allows you to change their ratings. H&R Auto Towing probably should be avoided if possible. The Park District of Forest Park swimming pool has a ""one way"" traffic movement configuration that exits out onto Hannah Ave. I had an experience where one of their operators parked his truck across Hannah Ave so that h... view moree could unload a vehicle off a flat-bed truck which he proceeded to do with an complete indifference to the fact nine vehicles were waiting to exit from the swimming pool. That degree of indifference to the general public does not bode well as to the degree of service you can expect from this company.
