No Way to Treat Your Customer
On 19 Oct 2010 I took my Honda Civic in to Hughes Honda Services Department on Moody Road to have an oil change accomplished. I also asked to have the brakes checked and to have the wipers repaired as the intermittent setting did not work. I had a coupon for a discount on the oil change and a coupon for 10% off a service. I asked to have the 10% off coupon applied to the brake service as I was sure they would find ... view moresomething. I was told I could not use two coupons. I asked why not and was told I could not use two discounts. The coupons state ?ˆ?Can not be combined with other discounts?ˆ?. Well, I was not combining it with another discount. I was not asking to combine the 10% discount with the oil change discount. He said I still could not do it. So I asked him to check with his manager. He did and said I still could not do it. I told him that in that case the coupon should state ?ˆ?one coupon per customer per day?ˆ? and that wasn?ˆ™t what it said. Then the service manager called across the room, in front of other people, ?ˆ?Let her have it.?ˆ? I found that quite embarrassing, as though I was trying to cheat them. I have used Hughes Honda for several years and spent a lot of money there.
The next day I dropped my car off for the work to be done. I got a call that the oil change was completed, my brakes were fine, the wipers were working just fine, but I did need new tires and battery. I went in to change my paperwork in the car on the battery and tires. While there I spoke to the service manager and told him that I felt he had shown that he didn?ˆ™t appreciate my business. He told me what did I expect when I was standing there arguing with the guy about the coupon. At that point I decided I certainly did not need to buy the tires or battery from Hughes Honda, nor did I need to do any further business with them. I also tore up the coupon for the oil change. Would not want to cheat them out of that little bit of money. I wonder if he would have talked to a man as he talked to me? And, by the way, I checked my wipers as I drove out. They did not work.
