They did a good job of rebuilding my transmission from what I can tell so far. However, my experience wasn`t trouble free. They originally told me 2 days but it ended up being 3 days due to them getting the wrong torque converter and the price was significantly more than originally quoted without explanation. I should have asked why it went up so much. I now have a dent that wasn`t there before this happened.

The thump
I was having problems with an annoying sound in my truck when I gave it gas from a dead stop a thump which was driving me crazy. I needed to find out what it was because I was trying to sell it and I didn`t won`t to sell a truck that had a problem and besides who is going to buy a truck with a strange sound coming from it in the first place. I was worried about taking it to just anyone because of the prices some plac... view morees would charge to fix it knowing that I was clueless and didn`t know what the problem was so I decided to take it to the Lawrenceville Aamco location since a friend told me they were honest and fair. I drove up to this location and they got right on it meaning we took off on a test drive and then back to the shop. They put it on a lift and began trying to figure out the problem, I mean they were going all over the truck from the rear to the front with a flash light looking under it while another was in the truck on the lift and running it. I was told to just go home and wait for a phone call and the next day I got it they found the problem and to my surprise it was the sway bar links in the front. They could have told me it was the gears in the rear end which would have cost $1000.00 + dollars and I would have believed them but being a honest and fair they told me it was a $185.00 problem. They even came to my house and picked me up since I didn?ˆ™t have a way back to the shop to get my truck, anyway thanks a million Scott and the guys at that Aamco in Lawrenceville,Ga for being straight up with me, I really appreciate what you did!

Run from this place
I will never bring my car to AAMCO on Pike Street again. I picked it up on a Friday, two days late, at closing time. By the time I got home I realized that it was doing something it had not been doing when I dropped it off. It was shaking all over the place when I turned. It turns out the tie rods needed to be tightened, something that was triggered by replacing the transmission. Nobody mentioned it to me, nobody fix... view moreed it, nothing was even addressed. I cant believe they returned the car to me in this condition without any mention of this new problem. I called and left several messages over the last two weeks and nobody so much as returned my phone calls. I cant understand why they wouldn`t even call me back. I had to take it somewhere else and the problem was fixed quickly. I will never, NEVER, take my car there again.

Surprisingly, I was contacted by the owner after a disappointed service visit and the owner went out of his way to make good on what was originally a bad situation. Any company can get things right., and even the best companies can get things wrong. But the true judge of whether a company is good or bad is how they handle the difficult issues. Excellent Service
I have an `02 Tahoe that had very minor problems with the transmission. I meet Scott when I dropped off the truck and told him the problems I was having. I went in expecting the technician, Hank, to say that he could find nothing wrong when he did his free diagnostic check and drive. Instead he discovered the problems I said I was experiencing and one that I forgot to mention, I was shocked and pleased. They called m... view moree and told me what was going on and what needed to be replaced. The shop was clean, for a transmission repair shop, and well organized. To me this is a sign of a well run shop. The repair took a week, and most if this was due to fighting with the 3rd party warranty company. When it was done the truck was clean, even the transmission was clean, I got under the truck and looked, again a sign of a mechanic that takes pride in his work. They did a fine job on the repair and told me to come back in 10 days, even if nothing was wrong, just so they can double check everything. Yet again another sign of taking pride in their work. I strongly recommend this facility to anyone that needs transmission work of any kind. Their rates are good and they are experienced with 3rd party warranty companies. Even if you think the problem is minor, as I did, there could be major hidden problems.
