EXTREME RIP OFF. WOW, just WOW...

EXTREME RIP OFF. WOW, just WOW. It does NOT get any worse than this. Absolute scam. While traveling from TN, to southern FL we had an issue with the AC. It was not blowing the cold air; it seemed to just be oozing out of the vents. Now I am not a high knowledge mechanic, but I am also not dumb when it comes to automotive repairs. I thought the issue to be a clogged duct preventing air flow. As I did not have any ... view moretools with me on vacation, we stopped by because it was on the way. It was a hot day (about 93 deg. F), otherwise I wouldn`t have bothered because I know how many car repair centers like to "take advantage". Let me say, this place will screw you far beyond taking advantage. After waiting about 20minutes for them to take a look (not very busy, 4 mechanics sitting around laughing in the waiting room), they pulled the dash apart and in about 20 seconds said he knew what the problem was. He said it was the AC blower motor. It seemed like that was quite possibly the issue, so we asked to get a quote. After answering two phone calls (waited about 10 minutes) before even bothering to look up a price for us (waited another 15 minutes or so) he told us that the cost was almost $400 for the motor, labor, and diagnostic. Now I don`t know about in FL, but where I am from, if you diagnose a problem, and the customer is going to have it fixed with you, you waive the diagnostic fee. ($90 for 20 seconds in this case) After debating if it would be worth it or not, we decided not to have it fixed at that time. We said we would possibly come back and have it fixed. He told us that the charge was $90 for the diagnostic, making me chuckle considering they did not take more than 20 seconds. He then said "Well, I can do this, and just charge a service fee, and charged us about $20 and asked if it was OK. Jokingly saying "no" he then said "Ok, then I can charge you $90 then." We paid the $20 and were about to go on our way when he said that we would have to wait 30 minutes for a mechanic to come out to the car and put the dash back together! At this point I am furious with the long waiting and horrible customer service. After waiting our additional 30 minutes as the mechanics were all conversing in the lobby, someone finally came out to put the dash back together. (Took about 20 seconds again.) We left en route to our destination, and thought we would try to get what we could out of the oozing AC, only to our surprise that the AC worked!, and better than ever! Now I am absolutely extatic that the AC works yet at the same time extremely furious that they wanted to charge $400 for a repair that was completed in 20 seconds without telling us! After speaking with my mechanic back home, he said that what seemed to have happened is they PLUGGED IN THE AC BLOWER! THAT WAS IT! PLUGGED IT IN IN 20 SECONDS and were going to charge $400!!! Never again will I go to Tire Kingdom. I am flat out DISGUSTED with the fact that they were practically "cleaning out my bank account just because they could." HORRIBLY disgusted and furious with this place. ABSOLUTE JOKE. Should be investigated and shut down.
