Best Auto Mechanic in MIA
Before I moved to Miami, I lived in Los Angeles and use to go to a female auto mechanic who owned her own shop. She was fantastic. She was so popular and had such a great reputation (mainly because she was never out to rip people off), that you had to get to her shop by 7:30 am in order to have a chance to get your car looked at.
When I left LA and moved to MIA, two of my biggest concerns were: how was I going to ... view morefind a great hairstylist and an honest auto mechanic. Well, I was referred to North Miami Auto by a neighbor and went there not having high hopes because I`ve been ripped-off in the past by auto mechanics.
Let me start off by saying that Luis, the shop owner, is a great guy. He`s not only honest, but he`s good at explaining why/what repairs are necessary, if any. He takes the time to make sure you understand. The guys that work for him are just as great, too. These guys are not only honest but they do a great job.
I`ve been going to this place for over 3 years now and I have a 12-year old car that is still in great shape. I always make sure to keep up on all maintenance and I wouldn`t take my car any other place. I work in Ft. Lauderdale and drive pass dozens of auto mechanic shops just to take my car to North Miami Auto. This place is the best!... now, if I can only find a great hairstylist.

went there
I went here based on these reviews but it looked a little weird. I didnt have any work done, but i guess i was expecting something different. Something more ""miami-ish"".

HONEST AUTO MECHANIC
I preface my remarks by stating that I`M A DEMANDING AND INQUISITIVE person.
Luis, the owner, and i really connected. I attempted telling him what was wrong with my car! He related to my concerns and asked ""...do you go to the doctor and tell him what medicine you need?"" HE`S A NEW YORKER, so am I. He was right. I had my ideas based on research i did on miataforum website.
With a non-arrogant approach, L... view moreuis advised he would check my car thoroughly and advise accordingly.
I was convinced my car had timing belt and throttle body and gasket issues, and prepared myself to pay ""out-the-ass"" for the repairs.
Luis was able to resolve my car problems via extension diagnostics and personal care without charging me ""out-of-the-ass...."" There was no timing belt or throttle body issue as the forums alluded was problematic. He knows is stuff. I presented papers from my research after he advised of measure(s) he had undertaken in diagnosing my car`s issues.
Again, I`M DEMANDING....
When I arrived to retrieve my vehicle, Luis advised that he wanted to speak to me regarding my car`s problem. As expected in a ""canned response,"" he advised that he didn`t want me to spend money unnecessarily. AND...
He drove the car for several miles and experienced my frustration...(the engine sputtering and subsequently going dead, leaving me stranded).
My underlying problem was not the timing belt nor the throttle body gasket (Ocean Mazda wanted $2600 for the throttle body, gasket, EGR valve and wiring).
Luis wanted $80 diagnostic fee. He resolved the problem by cleaning oil around the crank angle sensor. My problem related to a crank angle sensor seal gasket -- that`s cheap, relatively speaking.
My point is.....you can go to the fancy and optimal places for diagnosis. WHY? when there is Luis!
He is DEDICATED to mechanics at his small North Miami Beach facility. I`m a dedicated patron!!!!
He will be the one to replace my crank angle sensor seal gasket (or whatever....)
LUIS IS HONEST AND FAIR!!!!.....and I`M DIFFICULT!!!
nuff said -- this is real!

engine problem solved
Service was excellent. It was my first time and they worked really hard. They told me there is some problem in the engine which take around 2 hours to find and fix. I told them to take how much time they need. They started their work at 12:45pm and finished it at 2:00pm. Problem was solved and now my car running smoother than before. They worked efficiently and thoroughly explained me about the problem. It was a nice... view more experience with Auto Specialists.

Complete Rip off
If you are not prepared to spend $500 or more for a simply job, DO NOT go to this business. Everything is so expensive and the job done does not last. It seems as if the jobs are done for you to have to come back in a couple of days. I seriously would not recommend this shop to noone. The owner seems to look up in the air ans guess what pricing he want to charge for that day. Depending if business was good for the we... view moreek. Another thing, please do not be fooled with all of the cars in his yard. Most of them is his anyway.
