Cash deposit required so they can get your money!
I took my 2002 Pontiac Montana into this shop because one of my renters had just started working there. This was Dec 1st 2009. My van had broken down while I was on a road trip and there was a scraping in the rear after my husband had repaired the brake on the right passenger side. Ron the owner told me that the rear axle was bent. The estimate was $818.53 to replace the rear axle and I was informed that it would... view more be a new axle. We had to give them a $400 deposit in cash for the axle. I called the shop number the next day and the phone had been disconnected. I was able to reach Rita (my renter) on her personal cell phone. She informed me that the phone system was broken and it being repaired the next day. It is now 10 days later and the number is still disconnected, according to the Verizon message.
Two days later Rita called to tell me that the parts company had dropped the axle they had ordered and the axle bent when it was dropped. Mind you the rear axle supports the rear of the van but it bent because it was dropped. I questioned this and was also assured by Jason (the mechanic) that the supplier bent the axle before it could be shipped. I received a call from Rita the next day saying they ordered the wrong axle and the one that I needed was $80 more. I asked which one was it; did the supplier bend the axle so it was not shipped out or did they order the wrong one? I finally became so aggravated that I called Leonard?ˆ™s asked how much they would charge me to replace the rear axle. Allan quoted me $500 and he promised to honor this estimate.
I called Valrico Auto and asked them how much it would cost to just put the rear end back together and I was told $149 and change. The labor rate is posted at $70 per hour. I wanted to speak with Ron the owner and he would not even speak to me at this point on the phone. Jason and Rita the girl Friday and my renter quoted me this price. Rita insisted that she would bring my van to me and when she delivered it the refund from the $400 deposit was only $200. They charged me $200 instead of the $149 and change. This was on Friday after I had dropped the van off that Monday.
I took the van to Leonard`s Automotive Repair that afternoon. I called Leonard?ˆ™s later that afternoon and was told that the axle was not bent that it was the Hub Assembly and this was a dealer part. The part cost $247; out of curiosity I asked how much a new axle from the dealer cost and Leonard`s informed me it was over $1800 and that a used one was about $150. They also needed to replace some of the brake pieces that were not on the van when I brought it into their shop. My husband had replaced the parts when he repaired the van so I knew they were on the brakes when I took it to Valrico Auto.
Leonard?ˆ™s called me Monday morning and told me my van was ready. The total bill came to a little over $435, which also included an alignment that was not included in Valrico Auto?ˆ™s original estimate.
If you ever need repair service go to Leonard?ˆ™s the staff are decent, honest professional?ˆ™s who do care about your business. They basically use word of mouth as their advertising. I had used them in the past and the only reason I changed was because of my renter?ˆ™s glowing recommendation of Valrico Auto and Truck repair. Wish I had checked them out first on the Internet.
I love Rottweilers, we own two of them and they are great dogs. The Rottweiler that is on a leash attached to the second desk in the office at the Valrico Auto & Truck Repair charged me and was aggressive. Beware!!!

I went to valrico truck and auto repair for some trouble i had with my saturn,i asked the owner of the shop how much it would cost to diagnose what the problem is ,he said $75. i said ok but do not do any work to it until you call me he said that was fine. they finnally called me and said they check it and it was my map sensor. i saidare yousure he said yes i gareentee that it is and the car will run perfect i asked ... view morehowmuch will that cost, again that it would be $430.00 dollars i said let me think about it. i went up there to ask some questions i found out that they started doing the work without my concent so stupid me said thats fine go ahead and fix it. two days latter he calls and says that he needs to dig into it deeper, and the map sensor that he replace didnt fix it. that he nneded to be paid the $430.00 first before he goes any further, i said are you crazy you didnt fix it like you promised after much debat i had to pay him for the part and the labor costing me $230.00for nothing,i took the car to saturn and they said it was the caddilac converter, and that it was never the map sensor.they fixed it in about two hours and it ran great. they told me that he should have found the problem fast. and the best part it was fixed for free. ( IF YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF THAN I SUGGEST YOU GO TO THEM) but if not stay far from them. and the rotweiler tied up in the office is true you cant even go in there to talk. (PS STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Two and Half Day Brake Job and the Repaired was done Incorrectly.
When applying the brakes on my Explorer the vehicles front end was starting to shake and I heard some light scraping so I took my vehicle to Valrico Auto Repair. They informed me the right rear caliper was stuck and that the both rear calipers needed to be replaced, the rotors needed to be turned and new brake shoes. I told them it sounded like the front of the vehicle not the back. The mechanic David, told me that ... view moreit was the rear brakes and that the front brakes were fine.(Valrico Auto did the front in Feb.07)So I Oked the repairs and was told my Explorer would be ready noon Thursday.
Thursday I called to see if my truck was ready, mechanic David ask me if I had trouble with my master cylinder. Told him no the master cylinder was fine. The owner Ron got on the phone and told me he had double checked David`s work and the master cylinder was bad. So I oked the master cylinder replacement. I paid a total of $841.95 so I can pick up my Explorer. I get in and the brake pedal goes right to the floor. I asked Ron if he test drove the Explorer and he say yes, there pumped up great! When I asked him to check the brakes again he said they were fine and working normally. He refused to check the Explorer and told me if thought something was wrong to take it some place else. So I did.
Monday at 7:00am I took my Explorer to Just Brakes and they put it on the lift and pulled the tires. They informed me (this is printed on my bill)that the rear calipers were installed upside down.(I have pictures).
They also informed the rotors were turned so badly that the right rotor could not be used because it had been turned below allowable limits.(also in writing from Just Brakes). This was done by 7:30am. At 9:00am Just Brakes called and informed me that the Explorer was shuttering when the brakes are applied and that it is the front brakes. The original Caliper had failed and caused the front rotors to overheat and warp.
Will never use Valrico Auto Repair again!
