BEWARE!!!
I was going to purchase a Dodge Durango from Mills Auto Mart. I got laid off of work and got behind in my payments. I tried on several attempts to come to some sort of arrangement to obtain possession the Durango back. I spoke to the owner, Martin Mills, and made an appointment to meet him. I wait there an hour while his office staff tried several times to contact him by phone. He never called back nor did he show fo... view morer our appointment. I then tried several times to contact him at his office, by phone and email. He never received a call back or a response to my emails. I understand I got behind after I was laid off of work. I do not deny that at all; however, I kept in constant contact with his office, especially Monica the office manager. I finally got back to work and had made arrangements with Monica to come in and make a payment. He then sent to have the Durango picked up a few days before that arranged date. When I contacted him regarding my payment date arrangement he then told me his office did not have the authority to make those kinds of arrangements. I should have at least been notified that he could not stick our arrangement and maybe I could have worked something else out. Martin Mills seem to have a habit of not communicating with his customers. That is very poor business practices. He never gave me any chance to rectify this situation and now he is trying to charge for storage of the vehicle. I know he is going turn around and sell that problem retiled vehicle to another unsuspecting person and will get the money I paid, plus what he sell it for to the next person. I am very surprised he would not work out the Durango with us every way possible. Especially since it had mechanical problems from the first day I test drove it. Had I not been desperate for transportation since my car had died that weekend and I needed to get to work on Monday, I would not have bought a car from his lot. Mills unfortunately happen to be the only car lot in the area open on a Sunday. The Durango would not stay running while in park and his so called mechanics could not seem to figure that out. I had to have him replace the ball joints on the front since our mechanic looked at it before trying to do a front end alignment and advised us on how dangerous that was to drive. This took Mills four days and left me without transportation during that time. Then out of our own pockets we gave it a complete tune up, including filters and wires AND replaced the drivers side mirror that his sales guy told us they would replace. Their sales guy also told us the latch on the tail gate would be fixed and the Durango cutting off in park would have been fixed. I also reported to the next day that when the Durango was taken on the expressway it would jerk when the vehicle would reach 50 MPH. Funny he stated that in the four days he had the Durango his mechanic tested this and it did not happen to him; however, every time we drove it after that and it reached 50 MPH the vehicle would jerk every single time. I understand also, that when you buy a used car you will assume it to have certain defects or problems. After all, its a used car, not a new car but to have the numerous issues, numerous large issues, is asking too much from a customer to just accept. Its sad that he feels he can treat customers this way. People rely on him to be honest and true to his word.
