Old Mechanics / Not enough Knowledge
I took my Jetta in to Blazer on a referral from a friend. From the moment I walked in I knew this place was going to be trouble, but I needed the work done and did not know of any other VW mechanics in Denver. First, the shop is a complete mess and is dirty. Second my car set at this shop for 5 days as these ""mechanics"" could not figure out the problem. Third, I had to take may car back three times as the probl... view moreem was never fixed. I took my car to another VW shop I found online and the problem was fixed in two hours. I spent $800 + at Blazer only to spend $165.00 more to have the problem solved.

If you have a VW, this is the only place you need to know.
I`ve had 4 VWs in my 45 years in the various states I`ve lived. I worked at a VW shop as a teenager. Blazer is what a VW shop is supposed to be. If you own or have read ""How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive : A Manual of Step-By-Step Procedures for the Complete Idiot"", you will feel as if you`ve walked into the pages of it when you walk into this shop off of Broadway. (And, if you own a VW, you should own that book). ... view moreIn this day and age of ""McAuto"" shops, it is refreshing to trust my Vdub to Blazer.

An honest and knowledeable mechanic
I have taken my Jetta in a few times now and each time my experience has been great. My last trip to Blazer was because I thought my clutch broke and needed to be replaced. I was all set to shell out quite a bit. Being the honest mechanic that he is (I think his name is Larry), he notified me that it was just a cable and would cost pretty much next to nothing.
Furthermore, when I needed body work, he gave me an ex... view morecellent referral: Bill at 720-394-6163, who too, was very thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, and reasonably priced.
I feel lucky to have found these two shops to service my Jetta!

Vanagon and older VW specialists -- they know these cars and don`t yank your chain
Ever since I purchased my used `91 Vanagon six years ago, I`ve brought it to Larry and his crew at Blazer Automotive. While it has been a reasonably reliable van (cross my fingers, knock on wood), whenever something is even slightly amiss, I call these guys. They know these vans SO well that I can usually explain the symptoms over the phone and get an idea of what could be happening. On a few occasions, they were ab... view morele to tell me what the problem was definitively and give me a price for repair. They have always been accurate with the repair estimate and honest about things that MIGHT pop up in their diagnosis. I recently replaced my clutch on the Van (not bad after 240K miles) and priced it at other shops. They were not the lowest (by about $100), but I took it there anyway because the Vanagon is an odd bird and they know exactly what to do. As the other reviewer noted, the facility is far from white-glove clean. In fact, the waiting room is filled with dirty old car seats, disorganized papers, and van/vw ""art"" -- I recommend dropping of the vehicle and coming back later. Bottom line, they know what they are doing and don`t overcharge their customers.

Knowlegable mechanics you can trust?
I do not have alot of experience with repair/ service shops in the US (and the experinces I have had are grim - cocky, arrogant staff who make you feel like you are being ripped off).. The guys at Blazer don`t try to charm you but they certainly are knowlegable about all thing VW/ Audi.. I shopped around to see how much my timing belt replacement on my 99 Passat would cost (a big job) and their quote was about $750, ... view morethe cheapest in a range that topped out at $1100! The quote also matched the final price. They gave me a list of things that could be done and recommended which ones were necessary and which were not (the most expensive one was actually not necessary.) However, if you want a nice clean waiting room and are prepared to pay for it, then you should go elsewhere! This place is old skool and knows it!! Enjoy.
