I called ahead to Carmax to fi...
I called ahead to Carmax to find out what the policy was regarding "Lemon Law/Buy Back" vehicles. I sat on hold for 15 minutes waiting for a sales rep. I was eventually greeted by Rick (no last name). Rick informed me that my type of vehicle should be no problem, and that the value of my vehicle because of this would only be affected "by a little bit". I told Rick, this was good news because I, wa... view mores concerned about driving an hour and half, if Carmax was going to have issues purchasing my vehicle at a fair price. I proceeded then to drive an hour and a half to this Carmax. After arriving and expecting the store to be very busy because of my wait time on the phone, there were about 20 employees just standing around or "working" (looked more like facebooking) at their desks. During my appraisal process, the Appraiser came out to the waiting area and asked me if I had known the vehicle was a "Lemon Law/Buy Back". I said, "Yes, I had told Rick over the phone about it and he said it wasn`t a problem." He then proceeded to tell me that because of that it would take 1/3 of the vehicles price off on the offer they would provide me! I was very displeased at this point, I called ahead before driving and hour and half, and was lied to by a sales associate in order to "get me in the door". On top of that the offer provided to me was insulting. The offer was approximately half of what my vehicle was worth (worth = trade in value, based on kbb.com, edmunds.com, nada.com, autotrader.com). I was then insulted even more when the sales associate me told that those other values are irrelevant. Well, just to let you know, I found several other retailers that would purchase my vehicle about 4000 above what Carmax offered me. You will never receive my business again. This is the second time Carmax has tried to scam me out of a vehicle and what it is worth. Not to mention it is bad business ethics to straight up lie, in order to get a customer to come in the door.
