Wouldn`t use them for more than routine maintenance
I used these guys for a pretty substantial job. Wouldn`t do it again. One, they charge too much (and didn`t provide an itemization -- just quoted a gross amount). Second, a fair amount of the work had to be redone, revealing that the quality didn`t justify the expense (this was most infuriating). They even nicked and scratched different surfaces of the vehicle. Lastly, in situations where they used subcontractor... view mores, they didn`t seem in control of the subcontractor, adding uncertainty but not a lot of quality control to the process. When we discussed things, they tried to downplay my expectations, as if to say, ""hey, sometimes you have to accept a little mediocrity.""

Just Bad Business
I have taken my car here only out of necessity twice. The first time they mishandled the car to where it needed even more repairs than when it came in.
The second time (thought I`d give them one more chance plus I couldn`t make it over the hill to my regular mechanic) they grossly overcharged me and just attached a part that was not the correct part for my car. Instead of telling me that I needed a new part they j... view moreust reattached it telling me it could fall off again.
The woman that works there is very unfriendly. Just not a good place to do business.

Outstanding business
With two trucks and two cars, I knew I needed a good mechanic when I moved to LA a month ago. Sure enough, both my 2003 Mercedes G55 and my 1971 GMC Jimmy have needed work.
Westside knew exactly how to work on both vehicles at a much more reasonable price than the dealer ever thought of and they are honest, and that my friends is worth more than anything in this world.

sloppy mechanic
The first couple times I came here they were nice but they made a couple mistakes. The first they put too much oil in my car after an oil change. The second they gave me the wrong quote on breaks- basically upsold me $200 once the car was already in the shop. The third time I went in because my brake light was on and instead of adding more they changed my (engine) oil and tried to charge me for it!!! (never fixed ... view morethe breaks!!!)
Long story short is I found another FANTASTIC mechanic in Santa Monica. There are a few of them out there and I suggest you keep looking.

Great customer service
I`ve been there numerous times to get small repairs (replace lights, sunroof issues, etc.). Not only are the service guys prompt, but they rarely charge for the small repairs (outside of the warranty). On top of that, they always throw in a free, full-service car wash.
