dO You want good service from GREAT mechanics that know what they are doing? Go to James Import Motor Service. I found out the hard way you can`t take a foriegn car to an American mechanic, if you do make sure he has been professionally trained and knows what he is doing. Like this group of guys at James Import Motor Service. Resonable pricing with great service and done on time or before promised!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE
DO NOT take your car here. Terrible service and do not stand behind their work. They ordered the wrong parts twice for my car and I had to bring it back 3 consecutive days.
Then they did not fix the oil leak completely in my 330 BMW and when I went under the hood to add oil ( as for some reason it needed oil again - why - because they had not fixed it properly) they had forgotten to screw down the motor casing a... view morend the screws were lying loose in the holes and three screws had disappeared. When I asked the owner what happened he said he did not work on my car personally but don`t worry about it, it didn`t hurt the car. WTF.
There is so much more to the story. When I picked it up after they had said the leak was fixed, the car sounded funny. I know what BMWs should sound like. He said, "No, it`s fine. Our mechanic test drove it. " I have to ask is this the same mechanic who forgot to screw down the motor casing.
I then took the car to German Motors up on Lincoln Blvd (Sinard) and he instantly said I had a massive leak and he could not believe they didn`t fix it the first go round as there was gunk everywhere. Why I am so upset is that the reason I had to go into German Motors is my power steering belt snapped off due to all this leakage and instantly made my car almost impossible to drive. Luckily I was not on the highway but just going about 25mph in Santa Monica.
I had been going there for 14 years and taken all 4 of the different BMWs I have owned over the years as it was nearby my work. I had spend quite a bit of money as a good customer as you can imagine. The owner used to be James and he stood behind his word and his work and offered fair pricing. He sold his company to Doug, an employee, and retired and the place is not even a shadow of what it used to be in regards to quality and service.

Great BMW Shop
When I moved to LA about 3 years ago I asked around about a trustworthy shop to take my 330i to. My brother`s friend told me about James Import and said he had taken his BMW here for several years. I have never been to a different shop in LA, and will never go to another one. Jim and Doug are extremely honest! When there is an issue with my car, they tell me if it needs to be addressed or not. (I focus on fixing... view more things that are safety concerns, not cosmetic.) Once I had an issue and not only did Jim fix the problem for free, but he also paid for my car to be towed from Woodland Hills (about 30 miles away). Doug, who now manages the front office, used to work on BMWs himself and has many years of experience as well as specialized training. I really value their knowledge and honesty. I`m grateful I found a shop that does good work and has high integrity!

Could Not Be Happier
Great friendly guys, great reliable service and great affordable prices. What more can you ask for? I`ll be going there as long as I own German cars. Thanks Doug and Jim!

Best Shop By Far
I`ve been a very happy customer of James Import since 1983! First it was my Porsche then my BMW and now my Mercedes. The work has always been done right the first time, the rates are much less than the dealership and there is a good HONEST bunch of guys that work there. Two Thumbs Up!

Worst shop ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay away from this shop!!!!!! Doug the manager will be your point of contact and I have no idea what the owner Jim was thinking when he hired him. Doug will lie to you and over charge you, and break a few more parts in your car. He is the most incompetent person I have ever met in my life. This shop must be closed down. Check people`s complain with Beter Business Bureau.
