Two days ago, I had a lift kit...
Two days ago, I had a lift kit installed on my truck, parts and labor only $453 (included 4 brand new shocks). They did a fantastic job! It is a standard practice to get alignment done after a lift. So I found a coupon in the Penny Saver for $50.00 Alignment at Loveland`s Automotive in Victorville. Perfect! So I called and set an appointment for 3:45 PM and showed up exactly on time.
They told me that becaus... view moree my truck was lifted, the best they could do was $80. I said ok. So they printed me a work order with a $42.50 fee that I would be obligated to pay if they got into the middle of the job realized the truck needed further repairs. For a moment, this bothered me because I have heard of places that rip customers off this way. Then I reasoned that my vehicle was already steering fine, and that if anything was needed it would be minimal cost added to the $80, so I signed the agreement.
They took my car in at exactly 4:00PM, only to return into the waiting room less than 10 minutes later. They told me some steering rods were bad and needed to be replaced. I said, "OK... How much more will that be?" Then the lady proceeds to tell me that the total will be $490!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha
They would not do anything unless I replaced the parts they recommended, and I was forced to pay $42.50 for having them drive my truck into their shop, park it, andlook at it for a couple of minutes, and then come "rip me off" in the lobby.
The initial total cost for the job was supposed to be $50 per the coupon in Penny Saver. It went to $80, then all the way up to the insane amount of $490. I arrived at 3:45, and left at 4:08PM and was charged $42.50 for nothing!
Does this sound ethical, fair, and decent??...
