BACK AGAIN!!!! I wrote the first review on this page for Rico for the 77 Mercedes.I believe it was back in 2007. Well Rico and his crew did it again,of course. Our 2001 F150 supercrew blew the tranny a year ago and they took care of it,The truck runs better and shifts very smoothly.they rebuilt the tranny . When it broke down I did not have ANY second thoughts of who was going to fix the tranny. It took me awhile to ge... view moret to writing this but you should definitely consider the shop when having tranny problems!Mark from 94080.

Perfect Service
I was into Peninsula Transmission about a year and a half ago for a torque converter on my 2002 Ford Explorer V-8. After Rico replaced it with a heavy duty replacement to the Ford junk that was in there, It has run flawlessly ever since. But, as Fords are prone to transmission problems, my transmission was now slipping and throwing up the `check transmission light`. I was glad I still had Rico. The dealer wanted ... view more$5,000 to put another one of their faulty units in. Rico rebuilt the transmission using new hardened parts and other up grades for much less than Ford would charge. The truck drives so much better now. It has a solid feel through all gears. Better than when it was new. I find it hard to believe that anyone could give Rico or his business a bad review. He is so friendly, up-front and honest. I`m sure this is why his business is thriving. Thanks Rico.

Excellent service
Unlike most businesses you walk into, I was greeted right away and made me feel acknowledged. Rico explained everything to me, including how much it was going to cost and how much time it will take to complete the job. My previous estimates were going to ""total"" my Van and was resigned to selling it. I really wanted to keep my Van for another 60,000 miles so I stopped by Peninsula Transmission to get an estimate.... view more I was pleased to hear that they rebuild the transmissions ""in house"", but most of all, I was happy to hear the numbers. Very reasonable. Now I`m driving around in my Van happy as a lark. Thanks to Rico and his friendly staff. So happy in fact, I brought in my other car to have it diagnosed since it was having trouble shifting to a higher gear, thus, losing power. Rico test drove it and found it only needed a shift solenoid and other electrical parts for a fraction of the cost of a tranny rebuild. This shop is highly recommended.

Not just whistling Dixie
Not only did Peninsula Transmission provide me with exceptional quality transmission service, they threw in a successful diagnosis of a clicking sound and a starter that did not crank and were able to immediately resolve this problem for me for no extra charge or gain for themselves. They informed me that I needed to replace a discharged battery with a new one, even advising me that I could purchase the battery fr... view moreom Sears ( the discharged battery brand) if I were entitled to a prorated price, which I was. If you want honest, reliable exceptional quality service that takes your interest at heart, I wholeheartedly recommend Ricco, at Peninsula Transmission in San Bruno. He is your man. I`m 100% satisfied with the care he and his group have given my `99 Plymouth Breeze, `92 Lexus ES 300, and `95 Lexus LS 400.

Perfect Service
I recently bought a used 2002 Ford Explorer with 47,000 miles for my mother. It soon had a bad rattle in the Transmission. I feared the worst as the Ford Dealership said it would be over $3,500.00 to replace and I had no warranty. Thank goodness I brought it to Rico at Peninsula Transmission. He came highly recommended from a friend.

He took me and the truck out for a long test drive including the freeway and listened carefully to the sound. He properly diagnosed the problem which was a failing torque converter. The estimate was $1,200. He decided go with a replacement part from a company that has corrected the low quality Ford original parts that caused early failure in the first place.
The great thing about Rico is that he will not replace anything that does not need replacing. He takes the time to get to the real problem without taking the short cut of just replacing everything at the expense of the customer
And here it the best part. The final bill came in lower than the estimate. When is the last time you had that experience at a repair shop?
Thanks Rico. My mother thanks you also.

The Best Transmission Shop EVER
I was in real trouble on the freeway when car started downshifting (auto transmission) on its own. It was frightening and potentially dangerous. When I finally made it home, I tried to get "bids" from a couple of places as to how to fix the problem. I was told I need a new transmission, which would cost about $2,200 + tax. I decided to get one more opinion, and what a gift that was. The workers at Peninsula... view more Transmission in San Bruno were helpful, kind and professional. They told me to leave the car a half day, and they would diagnose the problem for free. When the half day was up, I was told that I did NOT need a new transmission. I was very grateful to Rico and the rest of the staff of Peninsula Trnasmission, as he told me that the problem was not the transmission, and for the time they spend "ruling out" needing a new transmission. Rico recommended me to a nearby foreign car specialist whom he has known for decades, and the problem was diagnosed as a celanoid/relay needing replacement. It cost $360.
It is difficult to find a reliable, experienced, honest repairperson, and I found them all at Peninsula Transmission. I would recommend them to everyone.
