Intallation Gone Bad - 2009
As a business owner myself, I find this ??uneasy?? that I have to draft this review, for it would be unfortunate to receive such a review from a paying local customer. I was informed in the late afternoon that our vehicle was finished and ready for pick up. After we arrived, we receive instructions on how to operate the DVD equipment installed by your company. Your employee discovered some components were non-operab... view morele within the installed system. As a result, my wife, my 13-month-old son and I waited patiently for about an hour and ten minuets as your employee fixed the problem. After a quick uninformed tutorial with the re-installed equipment, we noticed considerable horizontal signal interference in the DVD screen itself. Your co-worker/owner said he suggested and would order a signal booster (that would fix the problem) and that it would be ready to install in a couple of days or so... As of today (2 weeks later), not one phone call or update from your company regarding this part? The following morning, I was in my vehicle and went to open our sunroof shade and discovered several fingerprints and hand prints which then ultimately lead me to the observation of the damaged headliner in our vehicle near the installed DVD. My wife and I are disappointed that our new vehicle`s interior is now damaged as a result from your staff?s installation work. As I mentioned during our previous phone conversations earlier in the month and also in my e-mail sent to you: I stated that I noticed obvious finger prints and hand prints from your DVD install that "I Had To Clean Off", which then lead me to the discovery of our damaged vehicle head liner. It was obvious the metal support bar in the interior headliner has been bent down to allow your DVD installation. As a result, the business owner of Lombard?s Stereo came to his senses and offered to come to our house personally to repair the damaged headliner and install the signal booster. He also offered to return our installation fee (150-), which we declined. He also said that the signal booster did hardly anything to the fuzzy signal in the DVD and said he would get back with us on a new device to fix it? So far it?s been a month and not a word from Lombard?s. Sense then, our overhead DVD player has been making noises and rattling like loose nuts and bolt in a metal tool box going down a rocky road. Please note that out of frustration and disappointment, I?ve been locating other stereo installation companies and asking advice on what to do? Frankly they are surprised buy the work Lombard`s had preformed? Myself too? finally peeked inside the installation area above my headliner and found loose wires and mounting screws that missed the wood backing support all together. So I disconnected the DVD and found more loose wires and mounting screws mounting to nothing? " THIS WAS A TOTAL HACK JOB" Finally, I fixed it myself. I had to re-install a new wood backing plate that accepted the provided mounting screws, taped down loose wires from moving around and making noise and I also placed some sound dampening foam in areas were noise might be obvious. So there you go?¦ no more rattling from my DVD player. A simple fix from an inexperienced stereo installer. Regarding the signal fuzz...I guess we have to live with this for now? My advice if you?re looking to have an installation from Any Local Stereo Store? (check their terms and conditions first and seriously consider having a more reputable corporate company do the work) At least they are insured and will stand by their work.
