I wouldn`t go here

My first encounter with the shop was after purchasing a vehicle that had been allegedly ""recently"" smogged here at strictly. The old man working in the shop was somewhat nice, but could not give me proof of a smog certificate... only a number. He wouldn`t give me proof, or even an exact date. He claimed all smog information goes strait to the DMV, so I wouldn`t have to bring anything but the number. He also stated ... view moreit was last smogged two months previously and well within the 90 days to transfer title without a retest. I asked very politely if he could give an exact date, so I would be sure I was in the required 90 days, so he walks back and says, ""April""... you still have 15 days. After spending a great deal of time in line at our local DMV here in Santa Rosa, I was abruptly halted and told I had to re-smog the car, for the last smog was over 9 months ago! Excuse me? Also they had no record of an earlier smog. First thing I do is go back to Strictly Smog and ask if he could bring back up the smog information on the car. The same man goes to the same computer in the back of the shop and says... ""Oh the information is no longer in the system"". Okay, thanks for wasting both our time. So I asked how much would it cost to re-smog the car. $90! A little steep in my opinion... The shop doesn`t seem like its on the up-and-up. Judging by the establishment, lack of caring and general miss-information, I don`t recommend stopping in anytime for smog. I expected at least a little better. Great smog shop

This is the third time I`ve been here. First time I left important and confidential work files in the waiting room. They retained the files and went out of their way to get in touch with me so i could get my files back.
Second time was smogging a 15 year old car. They gave me all sorts of tips on how to warm up my vehicle to ensure a pass without any problems. The most recent was my six year old vehicle up for its... view more first smog test. I asked if they could also top off the air on my tires because i had a physical disability at the time. No problem! Can do attitude!
A terrific local shop. I am sorry the other reviewer want a service for free ... and we wonder why the economy is in the shape it is.

Montecito Center Shop Is Rude

I went by there Tue. 7/13/10 at 4 and they were closed. The next day I called and the guy said they were open until 4:30. Again I arrived at 4 but the guy rudely told me no, he was done for the day. Now after reading other online reviews I believe he did me a favor. I will now go to another shop with better customer feedback and a better policy such as pass or free first retest. How convenient for him to write his ow... view moren schedule but how terribly inconvenient for the local clientele.

Never again...

In a industrial part of town, such as Piner Ave, you can`t throw a rock without hitting a smog shop. Literally, they are everywhere. I needed a Test Only shop, and Strictly Smog Inc. was right next to by favorite breakfast place. Little did I know, not all smog shops are equal.

They took me right in with no appointment, and had me sign the normal bunch of paperwork before they`d do my smog test. On the invoic... view moree, there is a stamped warning saying that you must pay regardless of the outcome of the test, and that they do not retest for free. BIG RED FLASHING LIGHTS started going off in my head, and I should have taken me keys and ran. They asked me to initial the stamped information. I inquired about what happens in the event of a smog test failure. I was told that I still have to pay, but would be eligible for a 50% discount for an additional test. Once again, I should have turn and ran. I asked ""Isn`t no-pass no-pay the standard in the industry? Or at least re-test for free?""

And the BS stated flowing... ""That is certainly not standard practice! That crazy woman across the street is NOT our competition! Believe me, if I was allowed to tell stories... You can take it elsewhere, but the quality will suffer. What year is your car? Awww, you have nothing to worry about anyway.""

I reluctantly initialed, against my better judgment. What do you know, my vehicle didn`t pass. I paid my $80, yes eighty dollars, for my smog test. I had my vehicle fixed, and then gladly paid another establishment full price to re-test my car. I preferred to pay someone else full price than give the shady liars at Strictly Smog any more of my money.

Now everytime I drive down Piner Ave, I have trouble keeping my eyes on the road as I notice the dozen Smog Shops that proudly offer and advertise ""NO PASS, NO PAY.""

I would never, ever go back to Strictly Smog, Inc.
