AVOID...Inferior Car Care with No Apologies
In short Purrfect replaced my catalytic converter with a non-California smog compliant converter. Wife`s exhaust was noisy took it to Purrfect. I knew the catalytic was rattling and needed replacing. They ordered the part, installed it; cost was about $350. They sent me on my way. Fast forward 8 months and I need to smog the car to renew registeration. Took it to ACDelco to smog. They told me my emissions indicat... view moreed a bad catalytic converter. No choice I had them replace it. Yeah it was still in prestine converter condition but the lead ACDelco mechanic approached me holding the Purrfect installed converter and told me Purrfect had installed an out of state converter that would never hold up to the emission standards required by California. Further it wasn`t a mistake of accidentally switching two part numbers up. It would require specifically ignoring the correct converter for a cheaper out of state converter. ACDelco was great! Although Calif law demands they keep the old converter they urged me to return to Purrfect, explain the situation and have them call ACDelco. All I had to do was find my receipt for Purrfect. Receipt in hand, I returned to Purrfect. But had to take better than an hour all together to persuade the service desk to get the shop manager who after I retold the story to finally got the shop owner who I had to retell the story to again. He wasn`t conviced so I had to mention the California Auto Association, as the ACDelco employee had advised, to get due respect. Finally the shop owner called ACDelco Shop. After the phone call without an apology the owner took to the register and refunded me the full original amount of the installation Purrfect had illegally done. AVOID PURRFECT! They cut corners at the customer`s expense. Customers may think they`re getting a deal but down the road it catches up to them. And if it`s past that 60-90 day warranty when you discover a problem, they`ll hang the customer to dry. The good thing is I discovered ACDelco (off of Peralta Blvd. in Fremont) are stand up, friendly mechanics who know their stuff.

Beware
Let the bullet hole in the glass of the waiting room give you a clue. Problem persisted after they "fixed" it. After taking it elsewhere for same repair, found out inferior/inappropriate parts were used. Never going here again.

Avoid like the plague
Lying, cheating, incompetent, nasty scumbags. Came in for a routine repair. They broke something completely unrelated, then didn`t mention it, let me drive off, then denied they had caused it when I asked them to repair the damage. If you want a mechanic who`s dishonest, dishonorable, slow, and expensive go to Purrfect.

Purrfect Auto got three chances to fix my car, failed.
On Sunday, August 16, driving the car between my home in Newark and Santa Cruz, I noticed a small problem: the car had little power going uphill. This problem occurred going up long inclines; the car was otherwise very capable. On Monday, August 17, I took the car to the above Purrfect Auto Service #75 to explain this problem. They examined the car, replaced the fuel filter and charged me $225.82. They returned... view more the car on Tuesday, August 18. A drive over the Dumbarton Bridge confirmed that replacing the fuel filter did not fix the problem. However, my car was no worse than it had been on August 16. On Wednesday, August 19, I returned the car to the above Purrfect Auto Service #75 so that they could fix the problem. On Friday, August 21, they called me to tell me that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. They replaced the catalytic converter and charged me $251.52. I picked up the car on August 25, with the recommendation that I replace the alternator at some point. The second repair left my car difficult to manage: Pressing the gas pedal accelerated the car erratically. During constant-speed driving, the gas pedal unexpectedly fluctuated between partial and full acceleration: randomly, about one-tenth of the time, acceleration dropped for several seconds. Acceleration left and returned without warning. None of this behavior had occurred before August 19. On Saturday, August 29, for the last time, I took the car to Purrfect Auto Service #75 along with an early copy of this letter. (Draft enclosed.) On Wednesday, September 2, they called me to tell me that they would replace the alternator, verify that it caused the problem, and would uninstall it if it had not caused the problem. Later the same day, they called to say that replacing the alternator fixed the problem. I picked up the car on Thursday, September 3, and paid $336.40. Although the repair seemed to slightly improve the problem, replacing the alternator did not fix the problem. Driving the car at a constant speed still finds the car occasionally dropping power then returning. This automobile behavior is dangerous in traffic. In exchange for $813.74 and for losing the use of my car for thirteen days, Purrfect Auto Service #75 has left my car worse than it had been.
