Bad Customer Service
My wife was visiting her Mother in San Diego and they drove my Mother-in-Law`s 2003 CTS to Los Angeles to visit the kids and Grand Kids. On the way back to San Diego, the check engine light came on. Because they did not want to risk being stuck on the road, they called me in Houston, Texas to find out what they should do. I sent them to Penske to get the car checked out, which usually takes about an hour. A service ... view morerep told them they needed to keep the car over night, or they could go ahead and take the trip to San Diego the light was no big deal. When my wife attempted to explain what she read in the service manual about potential damage to the vehicle if you drive it with the engine light on, the rep gave her the "TIME SIGN" as if she knew nothing of what she was talking about.
When my wife called me back with the report of this incident, I then directed her to Coast Cadillac in Long Beach. They took about 40 minutes and checked out the vehicle; turns out that the problem was a bad sensor that would cause the car to stall when it gets hot. Was a $500.00 job that took about an hour and a half, and they cleaned the vehicle afterwards. Perhaps Penske Cadillac and Hummer`s service rep Odell, could learn a few things from these guys about customer service and not drive revenue out the door and to their competition.
