it was my first time going to BERTS,they are verry resonable with their prices. They did a great job replacing the engine on my 2004 vw jetta.

I warn you to go elsewhere. Cost was 100% more than estimate.
""I warn you to go elsewhere.
The bill was more than 100% over his estimate.
We got estimates from three garages for replacement of timing chain ranging from 500 to 900 dollars. Bert`s estimate was for between ""500 to 700"" dollars but he also promised to have it done by Saturday.
We dropped it off Thursday and come Saturday it was not done, a mechanic was out sick.
Monday he said the timing cover leake... view mored and we needed a new one at a cost of about 300 dollars, he did not mention additional labor cost and I assumed it was because there is no addition labor to install new cover instead of old cover.
That`s fine, I did enough research to know other things can crop up and need fixing so we said go ahead.
We were told Tuesday it was ready but Wednesday morning when we went in the engine was still in pieces and a mess with oil everywhere covering the entire engine compartment.
Three hours later it was finally done.
The bill was for 1400 dollars. 100% more than the high end estimate.
We were charged Labor for the mechanic to dismantle the engine a second time for the new timing cover. The owner showed me the cover and the damage causing the leak was obvious; someone had patched the cover with epoxy.
We were told it was our fault and we should have told him about the patch. Only when dismantled would this have been obvious and he knows this truck is new to us. His only concession was to only charge 200 for the 300 dollar part.
The engine compartment is so covered in oil it has caused spots wherever I park so I cant tell if I am leaking oil or it is his mess dripping.
As we left one of the mechanics whispered to us we were right and the owner was wrong but that concession wasn`t worth 700 dollars.""
