Wont work on older bikes
I recently went in with my good running 84 Nighthawk for routine maintenance, and they refused to work on it. They said Honda company only required they service bikes of recent make. I explained to them I had always had this bike serviced there, and I know parts for this common bike are still easy to find. But they refused and recommended another independant shop in town. Another guy drove up while I was there on old... view moreer Honda, looking for service, and they told him the same thing.
I had used Carmichael Honda for years for service, and always had good experience and felt treated fairly by experienced mechanics. Im sure they still have the correct equipment in the shop to work on the bike, the parts are available, and the experienced techs cut their teeth on simple older bikes like mine. I figure its just not cost effective and they have plenty of business in keeping up with the new bikes. Too bad, as the older bikes are still going strong and not every rider is a gear head or has the time to work on their own ride.
So Im rating them as below average, even though I know they do good work, because they only work on late model bikes. Theyve lost me as lifetime customer and likewise anyone else who expects factory service for a well-loved machine.
