This is the worst auto repair ...

This is the worst auto repair shop in San Diego, CA. This is an account of frustration, danger and really bad mechanic work. On 1/25/11 I took my automatic 2004 Volkswagen Passat there because of transmission problems. I had previously read good online reviews about Motec. The manager, John, explained the transmission needed to be replaced and I also had them do a complete brake job (pads / rotors). The car was r... view moreeturned to me on 2/3/11 and I was assured everything was completed and running fine after they test drove the car. I paid a substantial amount of money for the repairs and did not even get 2 miles down Miramar Rd. when the car emitted a horrendous sound. There was a puff of smoke from underneath the hood and the car came to dangerous stop in the middle of traffic. The front wheels had completely locked up and when the tow truck came they had to drag it onto the flatbed. I cannot stress enough how dangerous this was or how lucky I was this did not happen on a freeway. This review may not have been written and literally lives could be saved if people read this review. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MOTEC. When I returned to Motec, less than 45 minutes later, John had no explanation as to what happened. He rented me a car, which the only credit I can give him. It was not until 2.5 weeks later on 2/18/11 that he assured me again the car was fixed and I should have no more problems. Wrong again John! 2/18/11 was a Friday and I noticed on the drive home there was a squealing noise coming from the front end of the car. I thought the new brakes were settling in and it would go away. On Saturday, 2/19/11, I drove the car for about 5 miles and the noise was unbearable. It was a metal on metal screeching noise that was amazingly loud. The car was not drivable. I contacted John first thing on Monday 2/21/11 and told him to send another tow truck. After four weeks of being without my car I told John this madness has to end and demanded the car be fixed immediately. John agreed and he had a mechanic take the front right tire off in front of me. Turns out there was a rivet from the brake shield scraping a groove into the brake rotor. John explained he was not sure how this happened because they did not touch the brake shield when making the original repair. I found that laughable. I have a possible reason. Maybe when my car went from 40 mph to 0 mph, as their transmission work epically failed, this problem occurred. There was no way anyone could not have heard that sound, let alone a mechanic test driving the car. Today, 5/2/11, I took my car in for an oil change. Turns out the ?ˆ?mechanics?ˆ? at Motec attached my plastic engine shield underneath the car with zip ties and not the original bolts that had been on there. This has to be removed for every oil change. I immediately went back to Motec and told John to fix it right now. John refused and told me to come back tomorrow. His explanation to me was that it was possible after all the ridiculousness they had caused with my car, that he did not want to tell me I had to replace the shield because it would have upset me. So instead of making me aware of a problem with my car, he opted to do some shoddy work and not return the car to me the way I brought to them. Guess what? Now I?ˆ™m really upset! I now have no confidence in my car because of the work Motec did or did not do. Who knows? Drive the extra mile, pay a little more, do your homework about mechanics and whatever you do DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO MOTEC!

Awesome Auto Repair

The Motec Auto Care Clinicians really do seem like "clinicians" with how well they know how to fix cars, and how quickly they can do so. Not only that, but the staff are super friendly and honest. They`re exactly the kind of people you`d want looking after your car, knowing you`re leaving them with a car safer and more reliable than when you went in.
