Reviews:

I trust these guys
For me, it`s all about trust. Especially when it comes to who works on our car. David and his crew at Convoy are outstanding. Yes, they`re very straightforward. Yes, sometimes the truth hurts. BUT they always know what they`re talking about. AND they really have their clients` best interests at heart. That`s why they have our long-term business. I highly recommend them.

Lousy Attitude and even worse service
I have spent over 6k in 6 months(had to replace the head etc.) with them and on 2/9/09 i went in with a check engine light on it was the o2 sensors. For some reason they rolled down all the windows on my 528i and on of them would not go past the 1/2 way mark when they went to put them back up. So they manually pulled it up and said it was not their fault could of broke at any time. Ok maybe but I asked if they could ... view moreat least wedge the window in place so the rain would stay out. Oh sure we can do that for 98 more dollars. When I brought the car in the windows worked when I get it back they do not hmmm. DO NOT take your car there. seems like the place has really gone down hill.I will be reporting them to the better Business and triple A as they are AAA recommended.

Rip off
They want to charge 3hr labor for replacing ignition coils that are right on top of the engine, a 20min job at best.

Don`t use for anything more than an oil change.
I have been using Convoy Auto Repair for over 4 years. In that time I have brought in a couple of different cars for different issues. 2/3rds of the time they don?t get it right the first time.
My last experience resulted in my paying almost 2 thousand dollars to fix a steering problem and 3 weeks later? guess what?.it?s not fixed. I brought the car back in and now they find a new 600 dollar part I need. Whe... view moren I asked why they didn?t find it before or why they fixed other parts if this was the real issue they just shrug their shoulders. This is indicative of several experience my friends and I have had there. If the problem is straight forward they can handle it, but for any diagnosis they act like mechanic trainees.
They install new parts and send you home to see if it works. If not you have to keep bringing the car back until they get it right, charging you high prices for parts and labor. Nice and professional staff but their prices and performance are not very good. This has happened several times and I`m finaly done with them. I?m back in the hunt for an old time mechanic who?s been around cars long enough to diagnose issues without only relying on a computer. Any kid can read a car computer error code.

Update
A week after posting my above complaint the owner of Convoy Auto called to suggest I bring my truck back in as he thought he knew the issue. I did and he fixed it at no charge. He (David) apologized for the error and showed a great deal of tact and customer service. ""We may have made a mistake. Let me try and correct it"" goes a long way in my book. It was still a frustrating few weeks but in the end I am happily surprised that they took the time and effort to try and make things right. Which seems to be a rarity these days. Next time I`m in this situation I`m going to give the business an oportunity to solve the problem before writing them off.

Convoy Auto
I found out I was having an issue with my engine. I brought it into the shop so their techs could run diagnostics. Over a week later I get the car back after paying $2k to fix my engine. Less than 2 months later my recently repaired car comes to a dead stops in the middle lane of the freeway during rush hour. The diagnostics came back and the problem was the engine, again. I had my car towed to Convoy Auto and wa... view mores told I need to either get a new engine or a used engine because mine was useless. The used engine would be $3200 parts and labor. The shop has refused to honor their 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty. So now it costs more to fix the problem the second time then it did for the first round of engine work.

You can do better in price, speed of service, and customer respect...GO ELSEWHERE FOR THE PRICE
I chose Convoy over my car dealer, because they charge $99 to finish each job verses the $99/hr rate that my dealer charges. The service attendant, Scott, was terrible at communication, defensive, and answered questions like a politican as if he was afraid of being sued. He said my car should be worked on in 3 hours. I brought the car in at 8 a.m.. He answered questions like a politican. I was at the mercy of the sho... view morep because my engine kept dying, and to switch shops would require a tow truck.
It took 5 hours to diagnose and fix one part. Don`t be confused by the number of customers, most people are there for the $10.95 oil change. The diagnostic costs $68 dollars in addition to the $99 labor cost plus the price of the part. The price was pretty hefty considering during the diagnostic all they do is read the computer & evaluate the codes, which is not thorough enough. I have proof of this on my receipt which shows they did not evaluate anything but 2 minor parts that the code reader identified. Probably because they aren`t experts like your dealer in understanding your car, and need to rely on the $70 code reader that I could even buy.
Convoy does not discount any labor/parts prices. If you have 2 parts replaced that can be easily fixed, Convoy would charge you $270 for the labor and diagnostic. In this case, even your dealer might be more competitive in price and definitely better at diagnosing the problem. They did NOT evaluate my fuel system as I asked to see if was contributing to the problem. If I could do it again, I would shop around more. I interacted with 3 service personnel, and none of them were sincere or good at talking to customers. None of them smiled or seemed to like interacting with customers. I heard them making fun of one customer, because he had an older car. I did get some answers out of them, but it requires a lot of determination. My car starts, but you can do better than Convoy in price, technical expertise, and customer service.

OUCH!
I TOOK MY TOYOTA INTO THESE GUYS, IT WASENT RUNNING SO WELL AND I HAD A LOT OF QUESTIONS..THE SERVICE WRITER WAS TOO BUSY TO TALK TO ME, I DONT KNOW WHY I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE OFFICE BESIDES ANOTHER WRITER. THEY WERE LAUGHING ABOUT SOMETHING.

I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT WAIT FOR THE DIAGNOSSIS SO I JUST WATCHED FROM THE PARKING LOT. MY CAR WAS PARKED INFRONT OF THE GARAGE FOR A COUPLE OF MUINITS AND THEN ... view moreNO OTHER WORK WAS DONE. MY CAR WAS MOVED TO THE PARKING LOT, AND I RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT AN HOUR LATER SAYING THAT I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR, AND THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT$5500.00 OR I COULD PUT IN A USED ONE FOR ABOUT $3500,00. THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD LOW COMPRESSION IN I DONT REMEMBER WHICH CYLIDERS, I DONT KNOW HOW THEY DID THAT IN MAYBE 5 MINUTES AND WHILE EATING A DOUGHNUT?

I GOT MY CAR OUT OF THERE AND TOOK IT NEXT DOOR TO A BIG BRAND NAME, THEY REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES AND CAP AND ROTOR. WOW AND THAT OULY COST LIKE $300.00.

I WOULDNT EVER GO BACK TO THESE GUYS. NOT VERY TRUSTWORTHY
