Hovson`s- the WORST!
I began visiting Hovson`s in March 2007. During my first visit I asked that they please find out why the check engine light on my car would not shut-off. In the months which followed, I visited the shop 1 to 4 times a month. These frequent, monthy visits continued for more than a year.
The motor which was replaced in the passenger side door, once again became inoperative in 9/08.
Tires placed on the ca... view morer in 5/07, were all completely worn out 1 year earlier. Recently, Good Year replaced these.
My car again requires a tune-up though one was performed in 8/07.
Hovson`s was unable to find what was causing the smell of oil to permeate the interior of my car, though they checked on and off for a period of 6 months. The engine was cleaned and oil refilled but to no avail. Earlier this year, I visited AAMCO in the city of Glendale, CA, and within 30 minutes they located the broken gasket through which oil was leaking. The leak was so extensive, it had covered the lower portions of my engine with oil and had caused corrosion to form on my battery terminals. Interestingly enough, Hovson had said that the corrosion was due to my not checking my terminals, periodically. Huh?
In 10/08, the owner and his son informed me that my car needs a new or a rebuilt transmission. The owner said, it would cost a minimum of $2000 to start the repairs. Seconds later, he said that he did not know what type of work was required as he had not ""opened the transmission."" Then how did he know I have transmission problems and how could he quote a cost to repair.
Avoid this dishonest establishment. The state`s Bureau of Auto Repair spoke to the Vic, the owner`s son, who admitted they were not qualifed to correct the problem affected the check engine light. Why then did they charge me for alleged inspections and repairs?

Anywhere but Hovson`s
I began visiting Hovson`s Tire and Auto Repair in March 2007. During my first visit very little repair work was performed despite the fact that I asked that they determine what was causing the check engine light to remain on.
From 3/2007-10/2008, they were never able to repair the check engine light which remains on to this day.
The tires which they first replaced in 5/2007, were replaced less than a year la... view moreter and 2 of their tires were again replaced in Novmember 2008, though this time I visited GoodYear. One tire, installed on 5/02/07, disintegrated on 5/22/07. When I returned to the shop, the owner`s son, Vic, informed me that the damage was not covered under the warranty though he also was unable to provide a written warranty for any of the tires.
An oil pan installed in 2007, has worn bolt threads.
A motor replaced to repair the electric passenger door window, is inoperative again.
From 1/2008 through 10/2008, Hovson?ˆ™s could not find the cause why the interior of my automobile was permeated by the overwhelming smell of oil nor why my driveway was stained by oil. Though the engine was sent to another business to be cleaned and though they poured in new oil and changed the filter, the smell continued. Again, Vic stated they could not find the cause for the smell though both he and his father suggested I return on another day so that I could leave the car with them for an entire day in which they could perform a thorough inspection. The peculiar thing is that the car was left with them for an entire day and sometimes for as many as 2 to 3 3working days, yet they could not find the cause of the smell. later took the car to AAMCO in the city of Glendale and within 30 minutes, they located the problem. The spewing oil had covered my my engine with oil, causing corrosion to form on my battery terminals which Hovson`s had once said had been caused by my failure to check my battery terminals. Huh?
In November, I filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Earlier today (12/23/08), a representative of the bureau called and informed me that he spoke to Vic who said he was not responsible for the oil leak. He may not be responsible for causing the leak but he was responsible for repairing the leak, particularly since I paid for all such repairs. Vic did tell the state representative that his shop was not qualified to repair the check engine light, a fact he never disclosed to me in more than a year and a half in which I paid his shop to repair the problem.
I strongly urge people who are experiencing serious mechanical problems not to visi Hovson Tire and Auto Repair. They are a ?ˆ?hit and miss?ˆ? repair service and will ?ˆ?nickel and dime?ˆ? you. Also, DO NOT PURCHASE TIRES FROM HOVSON, they are poor quality, will not last, and are at best shoddy.
