My love for cars has always been a part of my life. Taking things a part & knowing what to do with them next. I bought my first vehicle; a 1955 Chevy truck @ 15 years old, before I had my license & did a complete "ground up" restoration on my "Red Beauty" that I showed at the San Diego Car Show. ? My first job was changing tires @ 17. I didn`t care what I did. I just knew I wanted to be around cars. ? In doing that I knew I had found my niche in the Auto Industry. I went on to work @ Good Year & several dealerships, where I received all my Master Technician Training & ASE certifications. ? I knew that after working for others that I could do this on my own & that`s when Anywhere Automotive was born. In 1988, I moved to Concord & opened my shop on Erickson Rd. The man working there lied in order to get my signature, hugely inflated the price, (695 to change alternator and starter. another mechanic quoted 370 over the phone. This guy tried to charge 120 for diagnosis and 325 for the actual alternator. Give me a ... view morebreak! They cost 80 bucks brand new.) He was rude, told me and my father that we were liers and he didn`t expect my dad to know anything. After spending an hour talking sense into him and agreeing to a ""fair"" price (i.e., would cost more to retow), the next day, he changed when I came back to pay. The guy quoted a different price and I had to spend MORE time arguing. The day after my car left the shop, it broke down. My dad gave it a look over and the ""new"" alternator is broken, there was trash left in my motor, my cable connections were sprayed with a solution which deteriorates the metal, and some of the bolts were not rescrewed...I`m sure there`s more mess to clean up after this guy that we`ve yet to find.
It`s been a nightmare for my father and I trying to deal with this person and it was the worst thing I could have done for my dad on father`s day, and probably the worst place I could have had the misfortune to take my car.
The man has a very pleasant face, don`t let that make you feel bad.
