my check engine light came on after buying a car off of craigslist.so i went to this pep boys and i had them do a diagnostic on it.4 hours later they told me that one of the pistons doesnt work and that i need a completley new engine and parts and labor would cost $3000.i bought the damn car for $900.anyway a few days later the light went off and i took it to pep boys on hollywood blvd.i had them due a tune up on it ... view moreand when they did all they found was a broken air intake hose (cost $95) and nothing at all wrong with the engine.the one on san fernando rd tried to rip you off especially if you are a female.do not go there.go to the one on hollywood blvd.they are friendlier and they are honest unlike the san fernando people.i repeat DO NOT EVER GO TO THE ONE ON SAN FERNANDO UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!

SCAMMERS, LIARS, AVOID

DO NOT GO HERE!

This morning I was going to head to work and my car wouldnt start. I got a ride to work and my roommate called AAA. They came out and jumped it, cleaned off the terminals, made it corrosion free etc. The battery died again, so I took it in after work to get a new battery. I get the one I need and they go to install it. 15 mins later he comes back and says ""there`s a slight problem. your termi... view morenals need to be replaced, they are corroded (sp?) and wont tighten."" I told him I had AAA out earlier and they said they were fine. He took me in the shop and the mechanic came up and proceeded to ""show"" me how it wouldnt ""tighten"". I`m not an idiot, and I could easily see for a FACT he had the tool on reverse so it`d LOOK like it wouldnt tighten. Freaking RIP OFF! I argued it for a bit, then said `Ok."" (just out of worry he`d do something to cause a problem with my car.) He showed me a price then said ""well, those parts may not work. I have a feeling for your car it wont, so it`ll cost more."" I told him it`d better work, and 20 mins later they were done! DO NOT GO HERE. Especially if you are a girl....

Poor Service

The worst service ever. Employees are not people friendly, need to be properly trained.
Long lines at parts counter and longer lines at register. The emplee behind the computer was typing with ""one"" finger and rather slow.

Poor Customer Service; Very LONG Delays

Prices are competitive, but service is mediocre, car parts used mediocre, mechanics mediocre. Very LONG delays. If staff points you to the waiting area, it is likely that you`ll wait there the WHOLE DAY, and you would still be told to come back another day because they have not gotten around your car yet.
