JUST WHAT I NEEDED, WITHOUT ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES!
So you see, I`m your typical, uppity, preppy, Marina-looking-living consumer. I`m seriously into the ""WOW"" factor and I don`t have any problems paying for it- usually out of the nose. Finally, being completely FED UP with paying WAY too much for crappy customer service and mediocre work; I decided to shop around. I needed my AUDI wagon fixed. I drove over EVERY bridge (no joke) in the bay area looking for someo... view morene to do the work and ""not take me for a ride."" Now, Atlas Motors is located in the Mission District of San Francisco. I must have driven past this place everyday for a year on the way to work without once noticing it; none-the-less considering it. As mentioned earlier, I`m the type of person who drops everything and moves towards the shinny, sparkly, dangly thing you bounce in front of my face. Well- let`s just say that what Atlas Motors lacks in shinny, Chiclet teeth, greased-back-hair salesman who offer you coffee, croissant and a complementary rose on your way out the door; they COMPLETELY make up in EFFICIENCY, DIRECT CUSTOMER SERVICE, TIMELINESS, and let`s not forget- COST!!!!!!!!!!! Being from the East Coast, I appreciated their no BS approach to getting the job done. I was so satisfied with the job they did on my AUDI, I brought my VW in the same week to have some work I had been procrastinating on done. The cost to fix both cars was CHEAPER THAN OVER HALF OF THE PLACES IT WOULD HAVE COST ME JUST TO FIX THE AUDI. So, in closing, don`t be a fool. Go check them out!!

Excellent service even if they charge a little more than the dealer.
I too looked for a good mechanic in the area after I moved to San Francisco in 2005. A neighbor highly recommended Atlas Motors as he had been taking his cars there for over two decades. I took my VW Passat to Atlas for a routine oil change and maintenance and have been taking my car there since every 5,000 miles or so for the past two years. The people there are always friendly and courteous to me. They call, as the... view morey promise to do, if a charge exceeds the quote. I like them. I recommend them to my coworkers and friends that need any type of work done on foreign cars.

Never Again

UNPROFESSIONAL - CARELESS - NO GOOD - INACCURATE - MIS DIAGNOSED

Relatively new to the area, I decided to search for a trustworthy and proficient mechanic outside the dealer. One day, by chance, I stumbled upon Atlas Motors. During my first visit, their main service rep explained to me the importance of not getting jerked around by auto mechanics. As a young female, with a nice car, I should not let my... view moreself get misquoted or taken advantage of, according to Atlas. Fair enough. However, I will NEVER AGAIN take my car to Atlas Motors. I have never received such UNPROFESSIONAL service provided by any mechanic. I brought my car in due to check engine light and rumbling/shaking noises when driven . Without adequate authorization, they drove it over 70 miles to reset the engine. And they claimed it was back up to par. When Ipicked it up, all the windows were rolled down with the keys in the ignition. Mind you, they have an open shop. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I paid them and left UNHAPPY. Since being in their posession, my car was clearly NOT FIXED. The rumbling problem was never rectified. I have experienced compound PROBLEMS with Atlas. NEVER AGAIN.

Their hourly labor fees are slightly MORE than the dealer. Look into it. Always CHECK & VERIFY your mileage BEFORE walking out. They have patters of TAKING YOUR CAR FOR A SPIN. I secretly wrote down my mileage, yet their invoice stated 200 MILES LESS. Again NOT PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT.

NEVER AGAIN will I allow my car to be in their hands.

NEVER

Excellent service and repair
Many years ago, while desperately searching for a place in SFspecializing in VW repairs (and other import cars), I came across Atlas Motors by pointing my finger and closing my eyes within the proper section of the Yellow Pages. Atlas was not only the first letter in the alphabet BUT it happened to be the exact place my finger landed. Well....it was and continues TO BE the BEST decision that I have ever made!!!! The ... view moreAtlas Motors staff, owner and repair crew have been SO fair to me, SO caring of my needs and my car problems that I can NEVER imagine going anywhere else..........bar none!!!!!! BRAVO ATLAS!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE!!!!! YOU ARE ONE-IN-A-MILLION!!!!!!!!
Sincerely, Helen Hultman

Highly recommended
I tend not to read online reviews because the anonymous review system doesnt give businesses the opportunity to address customers directly. However I do want to comment about Atlas. They have been in business for 35 years. We like to patronize neighborhood businesses and we have been bringing our cars to Atlas for nearly 10 years.

Atlas has good mechanics, they guarantee their work and they have reaso... view morenable prices. Plus - the people at Atlas LISTEN to their customers. This is particularly important to me because as a woman I have had numerous mechanics treat me like a dunce. This has never happened at Atlas.

Atlas has personal service. I`ve been driven home or to work when my car needed to stay. Once they even saved me a call to a tow truck and sent down a mechanic when I had car touble within a few blocks of their shop. Hard to think of a shop that would do this.

I highly recommend this shop. Check it out.

If you want to be treated badly, this is your place!
Although I want to like this place because it is convenient, they need a little help in the `don`t be rude to your customers` department. If you want to be treated badly, by all means, give it a try!

Just average for a specialty shop
They repaired a jammed window and replaced the pads on my parking brake for $500 - a bit steep for the work. And I had to go back to get the brake adjusted correctly.
