I would not recommend San Bruno Auto
I would not recommend San Bruno Auto Center. Unfortunately, my car was stolen a few months ago, we were unable to pick up the car until after 9pm, so the police had it towed by San Bruno Auto Center, my daughter called San Bruno Auto, they said if we picked up the car within 3 hrs it would be $250.oo, I pick-up the car from them by 10.15, they denied quoting her that fee, charged us storage and gate fee and charging ... view moreus a total of $440.oo. With that experience, I would be concerned that they would hike up the cost by recommending unnecessary services.

Overcharged me and forgot to put oil cap back on!
I took my car to San Bruno Auto Center to get a diagnosis of my engine to check the compression because it lost power and has rough idle. I tried changing the spark plugs, but could not remove because they were too tight. They told me in order to complete the diagnosis, they would need to remove the valve cover and would cost another $150. I said to do it. They came back to me and said the engine is shot and needs a... view more new one for $4, 500 or a used one for $2, 200. I told them I was going to pick the car up and I hung up. They called back saying they could get it running for another $300 and I told them to go ahead. The car is running okay now, but I now hear knocking in my engine and I`m still concerned there may be damage and did not make me aware. Here is a list of the things they did. Look at what they charged me for reconditioning the old spark plugs which they replaced. Also, I don`t know why they charged me for things I told them were already done at another shop. (Fuel injection service, engine chem flush, oil change.) Also, when I left the shop and got on the freeway, I heard somthing under the car, ""Thug, thug, thug"". I looked in my rearview mirror and saw something black rolling away. I pulled over and opened the hood and oil was all over the place and there was no oil cap. I walked back searching on the side of the freeway and found my oil cap and put it back on. I called to inform them and they acted like I was crazy and could never happen. They insist these charges are legitimate and refuse to tell what was really done to the car.

A+ Service
I recently had my car serviced there and received excellent customer service. The people at the shop were friendly, fast and thorough. I will be bringing my car back there for all of my mechanical needs!

horrible
My car was stolen and once recovered, San Bruno PD had it towed by them. When I went to pick it up, the man working didn`t even know where it was located in the yard and told me to go look for it. He was quite rude. Long story short, it had to be towed back home by another company. I was then charged $550 by San Bruno Auto Ctr for 2 days storage and a tow. They even charged my tow company $100 for them picking it up ... view moreinstead of me! The quoted me $320 when I originally asked the price. They lied and cheated me out of money. I would never recommend this company - stay away!

Horrible Customer Service
AAA dispatched this service to tow my husbands empty ford F250 - they wouldnt take the directions necessary to locate the vehicle (husband was paving runway at SFO) then the proceeded to maliciously misinform AAA that the vehicle had contents rendering it untowable - we did get a tow after an entire day of waiting - my child was in the hot sun all day - the tow guy called my husband ""bro"" repeatedly and stated that... view more no-one would tow him.. then finished with a nice ""f**k you"". I`m filing a formal complaint with AAA to remove them from the list of approved services.

Excellent towing service
On January 4 2009, my car had stalled in a not so accessible parking lot in San Bruno. Clearly as the tow truck entered the lot the operator had only about a hair clearance from scraping the top of his truck. In that instance, I knew he was determined to help me at any cost!!! The problem I had with my car led him have to call another knowledgable auto repairman in the area. In less than 20 minutes he had my car run... view morening and"no tow to the house!" Not only did he fix my car he taught me about the mechanics of the car and what causes the problems so if it happened again I would know what to do. I just wanted to acknowledge the SBAC towing service and Mr. James Adams for a job well done!!! Kudos to you SBAC! Maxine Boykin

Overcharges
My car was towed by San Bruno Auto Center. yes, it was my fault, I parked over 72 hours because my wife got very sick and I had to take care of her and did not track the location of her car. After 72 hours the car was towed, I don`t have any problem with that, i paid $89 file to the city police to get the release. Then I went to the San Bruno Auto Center, Friday evening at 6 pm.

The San Bruno Auto Center char... view moreged me with $709 `fees`. I am ok with paying for the tow and storage as it was my fault, if it were a fare price. CVC 22658 prohibit overcharging (and the fare price is what CHP sets ot the city sets).CHP tow prices range $140-160, and the storage ranges $30-$40. I was charged almost twice that amount. When I contacted San Bruno Police, they told me they cannot show me any contract with San Bruno Auto Center, but they have some kind of agreement, and the charge was correct. As a result, they overcharged me total over $200 compared to CHP towing/storage fees, and CVC 22658 does not work because of some concealed contract with San Bruno Police Department.

I would be ok if the money went to the city, but they went to the pocket of San Bruno Auto Center and may be some other people, whoever shares their profit.

This is a lot of money for me, as I am working hard to earn them, and I am pleased to pay people trying hard to provide good service. I hate paying to the people who takes advantage of you. The balanced economy should not stimulate people who does nothing but makes nice contracts with the city. If you are looking for Auto Service - please, use a different auto shop. If they are dishonest at one place-they could take advantage of you at another. There are many other auto shops in San Bruno working hard and they deserves your business.

Beware!!
On Feb 24th, March 15th, and April 8th, 2005, San Bruno Auto Center performed repair work on my car. I paid the charges of $1376 in full with my credit card. The work was not done properly and had to be repaired by another mechanic.

I requested a refund from San Bruno Auto Center but was refused and disputed $800 of the charges with my credit card company. My credit card company performed a chargeback and I w... view moreas credited $800. I received no notice after the chargeback that San Bruno Auto Center was requesting payment.

In February, 2007, a collections account was posted to my credit report on behalf of San Bruno Auto Center. This collections account is fraudulent and has caused me to be denied credit. San Bruno Auto Center never notified me before submitting my information to the collections agency or the credit reporting services
