Horrible Experience
Well after many years of driving a very tired car, I knew it was time to my homework and find the car of my dreams.
Well after months of looking and extensive research I new that I wanted a Toyota 4 Runner, perfect for driving around my daughter and her friends to practices and tournaments.
I ended up going down to Hansel Toyota in Petaluma and found what I thought was the car of my dreams.....well unfortunate... view morely no so. WIthin 2 weeks the rubber strip along the top of the luggage rack went flying off in a carwash, within 3 months the clock-temperature-gauge went out, then a surging and a strange noise in the engine. Well I was told this was a DIAMOND CERTIFIED PREOWNED TOYOTA....what exactly does that mean, well not what I was lead to believe.
I took the car back to where I purchased it to be serviced and I was told none of the issues I was having was under the warranty. They told me they would have to do a diagnostic and that would cost me $125.00, I was enraged, I had only owned the car for 3 months and this was happening. The cost of the clock-temp. gauge was going to put me out of pocket $1400.00 without labor, the strap to replace the rubber strip 35.00 without labor and to top it off they did not detect any surging or noise from the engine....I guess my ears are hearing things that aren`t there.
All I can say is that I would not under any circumstance ever recommend this company to anyone looking for a USED or for that matter new car. Once they have your money ($24,600.00 for my car) they don`t care about customer service!

THIS PLACE WILL RIP YOU OFF
Dear Toyota Clients: The Hansel Toyota of Petaluma SUCKS!!!!!!! I bought my 2007 Camry Toyota from this place and when it was time to have "The 30,000 Mile Gold Service" done in my car they wanted $465.23 plus Tax an approximation of $500.00. When I called Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa to compare prices, I found out that Freeman Toyota was asking for about $200.00 less than what Hansel Toyota was asking. I ... view moreasked both places to fax me a copy of the maintenance description for the 30,000 mile maintenance and they both have the same description of the service that needs to be done in my car. In short, Freeman Toyota asked for $214.82 for the 30,000 mile maintenance----- that my dear friends is $250.41 less than what HANSEL TOYOTA IN PETALUMA WANTS FROM ME. THIS IS A RIP OFF. IF ANYONE READS THIS MESSAGE I SUGGEST THAT YOU CALL AROUND AND DEMAND TO HAVE A COPY OF THE WORK THAT WILL BE DONE IN YOUR CAR AND COMPARE IT WITH OTHER DEALERSHIPS SO THAT YOU WON`T GET RIPPED OFF. THANK GOD I CALLED AROUND BEFORE I TOOK MY CAR TO HANSEL TOYOTA. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT ONLY RUDE AND CURT (The few times I brought my car to have the oil change at this place; the front counter people were frigid, rude, and impatient) BUT THEY ARE ALSO THIEVES. I WILL NOT BE BRINGING MY CAR TO BE CHECKED OUT ANYMORE AT HANSEL TOYOTA OF PETALUMA HANSEL TOYOTA IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY HAVE JUST LOST A CUSTOMER.

Avoid!!!!!
We bought a used ""certified"" Toyota Sienna from these guys in November 06. We also purchased an extended warranty with it. We had continuos problems with the car, and decided we wanted to trade it in for a brand new one. We explained that we thought that they sold us a bad car, and was willing to buy a new one, as long as they gave us a fair trade in. They offered us 40% of what we paid for the car, and wanted to s... view moreell us the new Sienna at full sticker! No way.

THe extended warranty that they sold us was useless, did not cover anything that was wrong with the car. Also, we found out that this car was bought by them at an auction, and was from Florida, used as a commercial car. No way should this have been a certified Toyota used car. The belts needed to be replaced after we put 3K miles on the car!

This dealer in my opinion is unethical. We went to Freeman Toyota the next day, they gave us 3K more for our trade, and sold the new car to us for $3K less than what Hansel was going to.
