Lots of other choices. Don`t put up with these tactics ...

I will not be using this shop or recommending them again. I regret ever recommending them to anyone before. Here is why: I had used this shop before and was pleased. Went back with car on 7/12 and the car did not pass one small part of the smog test. After paying for the smog test, I was told they could `evaluate` for $70.00. I was told they would then re-test free if I paid the other charge. I argued with them and s... view moreaid that other smog shops re-tested free - and in fact, they had this policy the last time I had used them. Nothing had been said about them not having this policy now. The technician then told me that he would do a re-test without charging. Went back to the shop today, 8/30/10. The technician was not there, but his father (I believe he owns the shop) was. I explained this to him and showed him the first test. He said okay. He filled out the work order with only the Smog Certificate and the `Com` fees showing as being owed, a total of $12.00 (which was correct). After I waited for him to get to my car, he came into the waiting room and handed me the pink copy of the work order (with the writing side down). He had written on it another charge of $39.00 plus another charge of $10.00. When I realized what he did, I came out and told him that our agreement was for a free re-test. He said no, he would not do that. I told him that this was the agreement and I expected him to honor it. I also noted that he wrote on the work order after I had signed it and he never said anything about this prior to me waiting. I left and did not have him perform the smog test. I don`t do business with people who do not honor their agreements.
