Reviews:
These guys are liars. When I bought my car they promised me "tires for life". A month later they sent me a letter stating that they had cancelled the program.
I called to talk to someone and they never returned my calls.
I will never buy from Capistrano Toyota again

Capistrano Toyota are liars and cheat !!!!!!!!
Normally I`m not the type of person to take time away from my family to write reviews, however I feel this is important. Last night me and my wife purchased a vehicle from Capistrano Toyota of San Juan, the salesmen were both nice guy`s, at least I thought. My credit isn`t to great do to recent hardships but I`m trying to get back on my feet. The salesman found me a great car with ""ZERO DOWN"" and boy was i STOKED.... view more They told me I was ""APPROVED"" for 12% A.P.R and for me this was great. Went in to sign the paperwork with my wife and two screaming kids by my side, not paying to much attention to the paperwork just wanted to get these kids home and besides these salesmen were great guy`s so why worry.
So me and my family headed home in our new vehicle and were happy as can be. The next day we noticed our A.P.R. was 14.75 %!!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!! this can`t be right ? That same morning the Finance guy called us to let us no they needed us to sign a new aberration form cause the one they had wasn`t up to date, my wife told the guy our A.P.R was wrong and the guy just beat around the bush claiming the lender had changed it. We called B.S. and told him this is not what we were promised... this loser didn`t care that he had just screwed over my family. Further more when we went to fill our new car we learned it only run`s on PREMIUM... WHAT...... The dealer didn`t know about that either, surprise, surprise
You would think you could trust a dealer as large as Capistrano Toyota but trust me you can`t !!!
So in conclusion don`t ever give these crooks a minute of your time cause they will screw you .

Have 2 cars from them! made life easy
My fiancee and I just got a 2nd car from Capo Toyota, and couldnt be happier. I found them super easy to work with. We knew what we wanted and they made sure that we would get it. The sales dept was great, I had done my research and knew what I was getting. I love that Tony, finace guy, got me in and out pretty fast. I think that the atmosphere is great compared to other dearlerships I`ve been to!

CORRUPT LIARS. Worst dealership ever.
All I have to say about this dealership is ""Hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband.""
Can I give them zero stars? This is the worst dealership ever! The original salesman I had was great, wonderful, kind, and should look for a job at ANOTHER dealership. The finance guy also seemed very nice and straight forward. The dealership`s ""closer"" and the rest of the people working there (who we were forc... view moreed to deal with, I am sure there are others who we did not meet who may have been ok) are the biggest modern day robbers and liars I have ever seen.
We went there looking to buy a Prius. The dealership had switched the stock wheels off their prii and put on cheap, ugly aftermarket rims. The msrp price they quoted us, which is supposed to include wheels, was actually the cost of buying a car from them with NO WHEELS. They then added on the cost of the aftermarket wheels, which was overpriced, and above the cost of MSRP..MSRP includes the cost of wheels. I asked what the they did with the stock wheels that you pay for in the MSRP and they claimed they didn`t know. We stated we hated the aftermarket wheels and they said we could buy the same fancy wheels which were on the showroom Prius. These were Verde rims, 5 spokes. They claimed these rims were on the exact Prius we wanted, the only white one available (they claimed they did not currently have any white prii at their dealership), and WE could get it for an extra $2500 for the rims. They said OUR car in the right color was sitting at their sister store with THOSE fancy rims on it right now. Since we hated the aftermarket rims so much, and were told the stock rims were gone and could not be put back on, we said ok on the fancy rims. I had asked where the stock rims went after being removed, pressured them, about 30 mins later, the closer says that they can give us the stock rims if we pay to have the aftermarket rims removed and replaced with the stock rims. We were told that there are extremely few white Prii for sale in southern California due to the disaster in Japan, and that premiums will likely be placed on Prii in the coming months due to low supply. Low supply turned out to be true, however, they used this as an extreme form of pressure. They said they would not honor the Costco discount either, because they were not doing the discount on Prii, but they would give us the $200 rebate. The $350 Costco discount, however, was a no-go.
During all of this talking at Capistrano Toyota, my Dad called Power Toyota asking whether they honored the Costco discount. They said they did. My Dad wanted to leave Capistrano Toyota and go down to check out Power Toyota in Irvine. The closer told my Dad dealerships will tell you anything on the phone, and talked him out of leaving.
It gets worse...
The next day we are supposed to pick up our car, and deliver the check. The car had to be brought in from their sister store- claremont. We visited Power Toyota in Irvine in the morning to see if their story regarding wheels, etc. was true. Their prii in the lot not surprisingly had normal stock rims on them. The price he quoted us was solid, at MSRP, and included wheels in the MSRP price! They also agreed to honor the Costco discount.
We had not delivered the check and had not taken possession of the car, so we notified Capistrano Toyota that there was no deal. At first they said ok, then we get a call back soon after saying they will give us a lower price. My Dad states that he wants to speak to them in person...it sounded like they wanted to close the deal on the phone without the numbers in front of us. We went down there, and looked at the car we had wanted to buy, which is now on the lot.

Money Grabbing Sevice Managers
When we bought our new Toyota from them (which was an excruciating-demeaning process) we were talked into also purchasing a service contract for free oil changes as needed. The first time I took it in for an oil change they said great just sign right here and we`ll get you on your way. When I came to pick-up the car there was a $71.00 charge waiting at the cashier. I said all I wanted was my free oil change! They s... view moreaid ""yes but we also needed to check the brakes, rotate the tires etc and there is a minimal charge for that"". I was furious. I felt as though I purchased an oil contract that would cost me more everytime I did it than a ""full service oil change"" anywhere else. The service manager actually said ""you can`t just bring it in and expect to get shuttle service, coffee and donut for free?"" I said -let me talk to your manager... finally and reluctantly they removed the charge. Every time I bring it in for service I have to go through some kind of similar experience just to get the oil changed -- AND NOW THEY AREN`T SMILING WHEN THEY SEE ME ANYMORE!! Do these ""so-called service managers"" get a commision for the charges they generate or what??? I`m done once I`m DONE>>

HORRIBLE Dealership staffed by Liars and Idiots!
I checked out nearly a dozen Toyota Dealerships in my search for a 4Runner and this was by far the absolute worst! I drove 2 hours to Northridge to buy basically the same car for the same price i could have gotten it at Capistrano just to avoid having to deal with them again.
There is a reason they don`t put the prices of their used cars on the internet; that would make it difficult to lie about them. Every ot... view moreher Toyota Dealership in Orange County and San Diego County puts prices on used cars online, you should really ask them why they don`t, but then again they would just lie to your face like they did to my wife and I.
Their Salespeople are complete and total idiots who know NOTHING about the cars they are selling. Bob Ballou knew nothing about the car he was trying to sell us and kept rambling about random stories primarily centered around his distrust of black people, surfing and hitchhiking across the US in the 70?ˆ™s. Pretty sure he fried more than a few brain cells on that trip.
SCounty Surfer is clearly an employee, maybe even Bob.
Then there was his Manager Mike Osborne, the sleeziest used car guy in the world, and I used to work at a used car lot. Mike will smile and lie straight to your face and then deny it 5 minutes later. Mike basically called my wife and I idiots (we both have Doctorates) when we asked if there was any room to negotiate the price down from $31,000. Then when we got up to leave, he chases after us and says ""Oh yeah, we can negotiate.""
I made an offer of $25,000 which is about where I wanted to end up. He says, ""We can`t go lower than $26,500."" So I said, we needed to think about it overnight and asked ""Is $26,500 still available tomorrow?"" Mike gave his sleezy little missed half my beard shaving smile ad said ""Of course, just come in and ask for me or Bob tomorrow.""
As we left, Bob promised to ask the used car manager in the morning about going to $25,000 and call me back ""By 9 at the latest."" Turns out they were both off.
That night we decided to get the car for $26,500,
By 10 in the morning, I still hadn`t heard from old Bob. so I called in and was told that the $26,500 price was ""testing you"" and not a ""real offer."" So they lied to my face and smiled the whole time. Save yourself the time, don`t even drive by!

whats all the fuss about?
ok so i occasionaly come here to read reviews of new places my wife and i can eat at, and i stumbled upon the reviews of capistrano toyota. i just purchased a 2010 prius a few days ago, and couldnt be more happy. im a local and live in dana point... i have a 2001 tacoma that ive always serviced there, so ive seen all the changes that dealership has gone through. i know theyve changed ownerships like 3 times in the la... view morest few yrs or so, and i gotta say, my wife and i are very pleased with the staff these days. they made buying a car a lot more pleasurable than usual... they dont have the hardcore sale tactics, they have good attitudes, and liveliness to them.... im surprised to read all these negative reviews altho some are pretty old.
ok so whats the big deal? someone tell me..... i understand thar buying a car isnt exactly the most pleasurable experience; but they made it pretty easy on me and im not the easiest person to deal with. being that i have a dot com business, i def did my fair share of research and shopping between dealers.
we`re all entitled to our own opinions and ill just leave it at the fact that ill keep my business with capistrano toyota...
thanx for the great deal!!

Very Poor
Very poor service in the finance department.. we had a lease on a toyota tundra and upon the end of the lease we wanted to purchase it.. It was immaculately kept with very low mileage.. They would not work with us on financing it for purchase. We only owed $12,000 and had been loyal customers for 15 years. Over the last year our credit had dropped. Even with a cosigner they refuse to sell us OUR vehicle.. So tomor... view morerow we turn it in!! So very sad to see it go!! The dealerhip only sees $$$$$!! They will be able to get much more than we owe because WE took such good care of it!! I will NEVER go to San Juan Toyota for ANYTHING!! Not even service!! EXTREMELY disappointed in everyone there!! The owner told us he would do everything he could, my husband has cancer that is why our credit had dropped. They just said we are sorry nothing we can do.. RIGHT!!

Inaccurate information supplied in 4 different areas
The internet sales man supplied a price that was $1250 less than the management was willing to sell the car. The owner figures that internet salesman gave us the rebate for the 2009 vs the 2010 vehicles. We ended up still buying the car since the price was reasonable (as opposed to a smoking deal) compared to other dealers. The finance person who was only there 2 weeks then supplied inaccurate information about th... view moree alarm system which was supposively pre-installed. He said we needed to make the decision the buy it right then and there since it was pre-installed. He indicated that we would get a sizable amount amount of money in addition to our standard insurance if the car was stolen and that we would be a break on our car insurance. 1) System was not installed 2) Unless our car was totalled and unless it was worth less than 8K at the time of being totaled we would not recieve the amount he quoted. and 3) there was no discount for the system for our insurance company as well as another insurance compnay. I don`t think they were falsifying information, I just don`t think they knew any better.

not a god experience
I dropped my car for a regular service. The car condition was great prior to dropping it off and just needed an oil change but after rotating tires that they recommended, the car was shaking badly and swerving to the right on the freeway. They did not report any service needed when they returned the car back to me. When I took my car back, they said now you need the tires to be balanced and possibly an alignment too.... view more I didn`t leave my car with them since I don`t trust them any more.
