scam artist ripped me off!!
this is the worst auto repair shop i have ever had to deal with. scam artist... they ripped me off for $375,00 and messed my car up completely. 2/22/2012 7:45am, while driving from hayward, ca, i began to feel my car sputter a little. so i came to d & d auto and asked for someone to look at my car because it was sputtering and i needed to attended my kids ncs basketball game in petuluma, ca. i stated to the employe... view moree chris that the car maybe due for a tune up but i couldn`t find out why it was sputtering. chris assured me that they would not charge me to diagnose the issue. then he would give me a call with the results and the solution to fix the problem. while i hadn`t heard anything back from the shop, so i called the shop and spoke with chris on or around 10:15am. i spoke with chris & dan and he informed me that my car just needed a major tune up and oil change along with a valve cover gasket. he asked for 400 plus dollars to do the repairs. i informed him that i don`t have that type of money. being a single mom and all. he said they could work it down to 375.00 i asked which repair could i do away with so i could save some money on? (not get done) he stated that all repairs were needed to get the car back running right. i confirmed that this would fix my problem.. after he confirmed it would fix the car, therefore, i aggreed to pay the 375.00. i told him i would be there to pick up my car at lunch (which was noon) i called the shop and a ride and they had told me that their tech would come pick me up in my car. after waiting 30 minutes for the driver to show up i made it to the shop. i paid the bill and mentioned to chris that my car was smoking and it wasn`t doing that when i dropped it off. he stated that it would wear off. nevertheless, i turned my car on and noticed my car was smoking and still sputtering. i went back to chris and showed him the car wasn`t fited because it was worse then before. he said they would look at it, so i went back to work without a call. i called at 3pm to check the status but chris said he was just getting ready to look at the car. 30 mins later i called back and he said it was the valve that was too tight and they were loosing it and the car would be done . when i arrived at the shop to pick up the car.(i`m thinking the car is working and i can go to my child`s basketball game) then chris comes out and says to me that the car has a burnt valve and the car was still operatiable it was just missing because it was running off 3 cylinders. i told him that the reason i paid all hat money was because i thought my car was fixed. based on our phone conversation, he stated that he was not able to find this problem until they tuned my car up. moreover, i asked him who did not he put the car on the diagnose test as he said he was and he stated that the car has a burnt valve, therefore he did his best to fit the car. he said he would not have completed the tune up if he knew the problem was the valve. i attempted to drive the car from the ship, but i could not go over 25 miles per hour. then it sputtered out and i had to get it towed. in addition, pick up a rental car so i could get my kids to school and i could go to work the following day. i called chris and informed him of the situation and he said well he could pick the parts back on my car if the car was running better with the old arts. i told him that i felt ripped off and lied to. i expressed that i did not have that kind of money to just give away, so he needed to adjust the bill because this was not fair to my child and me. i called my normal auto repair shop and they confirmed that i was just ripped off at tht price for a tune up to start and more importantly, the shop didn`t need to do a tune up to find the issue at all and instructed me to contact you all at the bbb because they weren`t trying to work with me.

I WOULDN`T trust him with my new BMW!
I`ve been trying to decide if I should write a review or not, but after about a month or so, I still feel VERY taken advantage of, and with no return calls from Dan Mims...here goes! I was on my way home with my two young children and my 2001 BMW 530i overheated on the freeway. I was able to quickly (within an hour or so) get it towed. The closest shop was D & D Automotive & Tires so I had it towed there, dropped... view more off at Avis across the street and home safely within three hours. So far, so good. Unfortunately, that`s where my nightmare began. After a day being repaired and $1800.00 (cash discount) he apparently had it fixed. Took one of my children to school the next day and barely made it home, as it overheated again. They had to come and tow it from my house. It was supposedly a small thing that was forgotten, but he said I needed brakes and it should be ready to go another 100,000 miles. It only had 107,000 on it at the time. So, I agreed to getting the brakes done ($400 cash discount). Well, we got it back, didn`t drive it all weekend, but on Monday morning off to school and ended up once again stranded on highway 580. I`ll leave all the anger and frustration out of this review, but I`m sure you can imagine my feelings. Thankfully, my fianc?© was working from home and able to come and pick us up and then again towed my car later that afternoon. Here`s where the fun really begins. Now, apparently I have a blown head gasket, but I could get it fixed for $2,000 (cash discount). A good deal for a BMW, right? We did check around and that was on the low end and the price went as high as $2,800, but who`s to say it wouldn`t have been my engine next. At any rate, I decided enough was enough and sold the car on Craigslist. Dan actually even made a low ball offer on it. So, after this expensive week, the only positive thing I can say about Dan Mims/D & D Automotive & Tires is that they did allow my car to sit at their shop until I found a buyer. It was there a couple weeks and I sold it for $5,000 to a mechanic that worked at BMW in San Jose. He of course, had to have it towed...again. This is my story and just the facts! Personally, I feel that if it had been fixed properly the first time around, it would have not blow the head gasket, saving me a lot of money. I feel one star is too many and I can not recommend Dan Mims or D & D Automotive & Tires. FYI: You can also find some unfavorable reviews under D & D Automotive & Tires (yelp) and D & D Automotive & Tires Incorporated (local.yahoo). My question, why not be consistent with the name of your business? Also, check the 6 filtered reviews on yelp at the very bottom of the page. Good luck!

Best Auto & Tires Company in San Ramon
Had a loud sound from my engine and leaking coolant. I went in to D&D Automotive & Tire with concerns and Dan was so helpful. They fixed my Tahoe while I waited and was so informative about my auto, showed me the part that was defective. I was amazed after seeing the part and was very pleased with their service. Thanks again Dan and all the best to you and your staff. Donisia Knight DMK Elite Networking

A great place for all you repair needs
My car was towed to D and D Automotive and tire on late saturday afternoon. Unfortunately the establishment was closed for the afternoon. I contacted D&D early Monday morning I spoke with Dan who stated they would do a free diagnostic scan on my vehicle and contact me with what was wrong with my car. He was very professional and was so knowledgeable. By mid afternoon he contacted me stating my vehicle was completed ... view moreand if I needed a ride they can come pick me up... Great customer service! I have highly recommended them to several friends.
I will be bringing my car back to D&D for all my automotive and tire needs in the future.

Horrible place
Never use this service. I gave my car to this body shop for repair. His onwer Dan said to me that it takes about three days to fix. I was waiting for about 2 weeks until it`s done and found my car at the Safeway parking lot , somebody used my car for the body shop needs (buying food for co-workers). Why my car was used for that? I came to Dan and asked for explanation. He said he sent his employee to warm up my car, ... view morebut the car wasn`t repaired yet... My car mileage had ~ 82 extra miles. The onwer is irresponsible. Don`t use this service.
