YOU BE THE JUDGE
YOU BE THE JUDGE.
Jeff Isaacs held himself out as an experienced mechanic. He had me fooled until after I spent almost $2000 with him for inspecting and refreshing a Mustang convertible I bought on his recommendation. He performed a buyer`s exam on the car for me and pronounced it safe and sound, needing only about $1000 of tires and repairs to make it a good looking and driving car.
Because I ... view morelive in Phoenix and could not get to Lakeside to look at the car I relied strictly on Jeff to inspect the car. He gave me a "thumbs up", I then paid the seller, and Jeff performed the first $1000 of work on the car.
After he recommended and performed the next $672 of work on the car I had it looked at by another mechanic in the area. The second mechanic pointed out to me evidence of a collision to the right front side of the car and the sloppy job of attempting to repair it, including a mismatched paint job on the front half of the car.
When I showed this to Jeff on the next day, he admitted that he now saw the collision damage and also admitted that he had missed it when he inspected the car and had not mentioned it to me before I bought the car.
Beyond a doubt, had I known of the damage to the car I would not have bought it. Jeff would do nothing about his mistake and offered nothing to reimburse me for the cost of the car or the money I had paid him, almost $1000 of which was his labor.
Now I have a car I would not have bought had Jeff performed his buyer`s inspection properly. In short, after buying the car and paying for all the other work I have had to have done on the car, I am out over $6000 while Jeff profited almost $1000 from the labor he would not have performed had he discovered the damage and I had not purchased the car based on his recommendation.
You be the judge as to whether Jeff is an experienced mechanic.
