Reviews:
Worst Car Buying Experience Ever
I was extremely disappointed with the service i received at Earnhardt Hyundai. When i arrived on the lot to look at vehicles, no one greeted me for the first 20 minutes. Then, the person that finally came to talk to me was more like a greasy car salesman. He fed me lies about how he had the same car that i wanted to purchase and that he only got oil changes every 10,000 miles. That was the biggest LIE i had ever hear... view mored. I should have left the lot right then, but i didn`t because i wanted to know what deals they had. After speaking with him, I spoke with one of the general sales managers about prices. This man was also a big liar. He told me that there were features that he could add to the vehicle that I wanted althought he knew that wasn`t possible. They wanted to run my credit, but I opted not to because I only wanted it ran if i knew for sure that i`d be purchasing from them. So, i told them what my credit scores were from the 3 credit bureaus. It so happened that my score was the same at 2 of the 3 bureaus and the sales GM pretty much called me a liar stating that what i was telling him was not true. He kept asking me why i didn`t want my credit ran and after i told him my reasons he fed me more lies about how my credit score wont drop due to inquiries. He just made it seem as though i was hiding something when in truth i really wasn`t. i just didn`t want them to run my score. Nevertheless, before i left he told me that he`d work out more figures and give me a call the next day. Which never happened. So, i went to Nick Mayer Hyundai and purchased a brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata that I`m pleased with. Moral of the story, DON`T purchase your vehicle at Earnhardt Hyundai because you won`t get treated with respect and you`ll probably get fed lies. I expected more from them since they bear the Earnhardt name, but they definitely didn`t live up to it. After I purchased my new car elsewhere I went back to Earnhardt to give that slimy salesman and sales GM a piece of my mind, but neither were there. That`s a good thing for them because I definitely had some choice words and stuff that i needed to get off of my chest!

My experience with Avondale Hyundai and the Costco car buyin
I inquired about purchasing a 2011 Hyundai Sonata through the Costco Auto Buying program. I was referred to Avondale Hyundai and spoke with Robert ""JR"" Steffes. I was under the impression that the Costco program afforded the customer the experience of no hassle and no haggle pricing. It does, but did you know you`re not getting the best price the dealership can offer? You`re getting a ""fair"" price. I only found t... view morehis out because Avondale had the car I wanted with the options I wanted and the price was right (I didn`t know they could go lower than the Costco price). The only reason I found out that I could get a better price was because JR said they had the only 3 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE with the options I wanted, in the entire state. This car had everything except the Navigation/Sunroof package and it didn`t have the Homelink system. I wanted a different color than what they had to offer and he said, ""We have the only 3 in the state.""
I called another dealership, San Tan Hyundai, and they got me the same 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE in the color I wanted with the Homelink system for $7 less per month over 72 months, this was a savings of $504 for a car with at least $250 more options. (The Homelink System is a $250 feature). This car also included the Cargo Mat, iPod Cable and Cargo Net which is worth an additional $180. I don`t think that was on the car from Avondale so since I can`t be certain of that, I`m not going to mention it in this comparison` but I`m quite sure that was missing from Avondale.
Long story short, I only called another dealer because I wanted a different color car for the same price and Avondale said that wasn`t possible. San Tan Hyundai got me a car with at least $250 worth of more options for $504 less. This scenario is apples to apples. The only variable was that I got a $130 registration credit from the plates on my old car which I have figured is a savings of $1.80/month. So to be fair, San Tan Hyundai saved me $374 over 72 months with $250 more options for a total price swing of $624. I think it was worth a drive across town to save $624.
I spoke with the GM at Avondale Hyundai about this after I purchased the car from San Tan. His name is Robert Staup. Although he seemed concerned he said quote ""Through the Costco program, we offer a fair price, not the best price"" He spoke with me for about 5 minutes then cut me short and had to go. I spoke with a representative from the Costco auto buying program and a lady confirmed the same thing. Through Costco it is ""a fair price, not the best price.""
JR may not have been lying to me but why didn`t he get me the car with more features, in the color I wanted for a lesser price like San Tan Hyundai did? Zero customer service. He was a nice guy, a very likable guy but a combination of Billy Mays and Don Lapre (look Don Lapre up on Google if you don`t know who I`m talking about.)
Bottom line: Do not go to Avondale Hyundai if you want the ""best price."" Do not go through the Costco Auto buying program if you want the ""best price"" Go to San Tan Hyundai and ask for Kirk Patten. He helped me save a ton of money for a better car without having to haggle over price with him. I would have paid the price Avondale offered me for less features if it was the right color. Fortunately for me, JR wasn`t helpful enough to get me the right color so I called another dealer to see if he was telling me the truth and found the car in the right color with more options for less money.
