My boyfriend brought his 1991 ...
My boyfriend brought his 1991 Camaro Z28 (ONLY 40K ORIGINAL MILES!) to Professional Automotive to have a tune-up and other things to be replaced. The things to be replaced did not ?ˆ?go bad,?ˆ? the vehicle was purchased by him and he wanted to update certain things as the car is 20 years old. We took the car to Professional Automotive to have the bearings greased and to get a tune-up, Mike Bakic (owner of Prof. Auto) cha... view morerged him over $800 to have the used/old bearings greased, the actual cost, should?ˆ™ve been near $200. Mike Bakic charged him $1700 for a tune-up (new distributor cap, spark plugs and wires, etc.) I received a phone call regarding the tune-up from Kyle (mechanic @ Professional Automotive) stating that he couldn?ˆ™t get the distributor off and that it was corroded to the engine and he had to take it off in pieces. After replacing the distributor, spark plugs and wires, we returned to pick up the Camaro. Approximately 30 minutes after leaving Professional Automotive, the car began to sputter and die (after the car warmed up) when it fell under 500 rpms (a problem we never had with the car BEFORE bringing it to Professional Automotive). We took the car BACK to the shop and let them know that the vehicle was running worst NOW then when we brought it in to be worked on. Mike Bakic stated there was nothing he could do and that his employees did not do anything to the vehicle to cause it to run like it was. He stated that the problem MAY BE the injectors, but said there was no computer to plug it in to for a vehicle that old. However, he lied and there actually was a place for the vehicle to be plugged in and checked for error codes. He told us that it would cost another $1700 to replace the injectors, but didn?ˆ™t know if that was going to fix the problem. With the issues we were having with Mike Bakic we decided we would no longer be taking the vehicle back to Professional Automotive after getting the car back in a poor-condition when it was previously very perfect-running and his failure to care about the condition we got the car back in. There were also two new dents put in the front fender while the car was in their care. We had another two mechanics look at the vehicle to determine what was wrong with it. Upon inspection, one of the mechanics noticed that some of the spark plug wires were on backwards, the cars timing was off four degrees, and a vacuum hose had actually been broken near the distributor. We had these fixed, costing us another $400 in labor (not including parts). That mechanic stated with the way the parts were put on, the job they did, the mechanic had to 1) Not know what he was doing or 2) was highly intoxicated when he was working on it. Still, fixing the half-assed job Professional Automotive did, we?ˆ™re still having the same issues with the car. A second mechanic, at a NAPA Service Center took two entire days inspecting the vehicle, using trial and error methods for different parts on the car that may cause the problem, with no finding. He suggested that he believes when Professional Automotive replaced the distributor, they grabbed the wrong wire and fried the Electronic Control Module in the car. We have let Mike Bakic know about these issues and he has neglected to care or show any concern to the issues we were having because of the work performed at his shop. My boyfriend has spent over $3000 to Professional Automotive (in total) to have the car running in a way that it never was before, absolutely poorly. I highly recommend you keep ALL OF YOUR VEHICLES AWAY FROM PROFESSIONAL AUTOMOTIVE IF YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO REMAIN RUNNING PROPERLY. Even if there?ˆ™s something that needs a fix, you may get a car back like we did that cannot even be diagnosed properly after the mess they created by the poor work performed. We are in the process of filing a legal suit against Professional Automotive and its owner, Mike Bakic for the damage done to his engine and body of the Camaro.
