do not trust this place
A friend recommend Arctic Import Repairs to me, at first I was very please with the ease of getting appointment and the friendliness of the staff. My first problem came after transmission work . When they put the transmission back in they forgot to replace the bolt that holds the battery into place. I was stranded without a clue what was wrong. I had to tow my car a buy a new battery. It wasn`t until a friend looked ... view morethat he realized that was the problem. I figured one mistake, everyone makes them right? Well turns out they make lots of mistakes. A few months later my head lights were acting very strage. Some times they would work and sometimes only one would or the other. I explained all this to them. Instead of fixing anything or even calling me, they replaced 6 bulbs and charged me $240. Something I could have easily done for $25. And a week later my left head light was out again. I decided to leave it at that and switched mechanics

Great Service and Help When Needed.
Bruce and his staff have been very honest and forthright anytime , my husband or myself have taken our vehicles to the shop. They have loaned us vehicles to drive while ours have been in the shop and have given me rides home from shop when needed. They have helped us by allowing us to do installments when needed. I believe they are a reputable business and have had no issues with either their work or prices. Thank yo... view moreu to a kind business man and his great crew here in Anchorage.

Very Dishonest Repair Shop
My eighteen-year-old daughter worked throughout the summer to purchase an older Subaru from a retired teacher. The vehicle had been in storage for a few years and only driven a little. There were no leaks and was in good shape for an older very clean used car. There were leaves all over the vehicle from the trees that were nearby the carport where the vehicle sat, except for the few times it was driven by the owners ... view morehandyman. Unfortunately, the engine light was on when she bought it.
I drove the vehicle to Arctic Import Repair on International Road. I told them I was spending my daughter?ˆ™s summer money so I needed an estimate first.
About four hours later, I asked how things were going. The counter person went to the back and then came back up front. He explained that the engine had been power washed by the seller, so they had blown out the engine with compressed air and reset the error codes while it idled to dry, but the engine light had come back on. Then he shared he didn`t have the sensor in stock because it was a dealer part, but if I brought it back after the weekend they could replace it and see if the light would remain off.
I went to Subaru and the service person showed me the sensor, which was located immediately below the cowling and some other things. Below the cowling were spider webs, dried leaves, and dust and dirt. It was clear my knock sensor hadn`t been wet or blown out by compressed air. It was clear the story shared by Arctic Repair was fiction.
I drove the car to Specialized Auto Import Service about 2 blocks down the road from Arctic Repair. About two hours later, the car was ready to be picked up, repaired, and they had taken the liberty to make a list of maintenance priorities my daughter should budget for. I was pleased, and the repair had cost what I had paid Arctic Repair, less the parts.
Arctic Repair, in my experience, are dishonest. I will never trust my vehicle to them again. This is the shop we have all been warned about.

Good service
I`ve taken my car there for four years and have no complaints -- and I am not easy to please. They have always done the work on my car quickly, explain what`s wrong clearly and have been honest. My friends use this shop too. I am guessing they may cost a bit more than some but I`ve not taken my car elsewhere so don`t really know.

Very bad service - avoid this shop
I`ve had an older BMW being repaired at Arctic Imports for 3 months now, and still no resolution.
They have over 30 cars in their lot that are awaiting service, they don`t return phone calls, they constantly ask ""can we call you back later;"" they`re simply fat, dumb, and happy being one of the few large import repair shops in Anchorage.
My BMW needed nothing major done that would take 3 months, while I`ve rac... view moreked up over $800 in car rental charges. I called them weekly to spur them into action, to no avail.
Finally I walked in-- 3 months after I originally brought my car in-- and said ""we`re done, I`m here to pick up my car."" They did, but offered not one apology or word of regret for their terrible customer service.
The worst service I`ve ever had at an auto repair shop.
