UWF Students and Students` Parents Beware! Paid them almost $700 for a timing belt job and only got 7,000 miles out of it, and not because of a part defect; rather, because of the workmanship. It`s a long story, but it had nothing to do with the parts. Trust me. Anyway, everyone knows that a timing belt should last until the manufacturer`s recommended replacement mileage, which on my car is every 60,000 miles. So, be... view morecause of Tuffy Pensacola`s lousy 90 day warranty, it wound up costing me another $700 (actually more because of towing), which was cheap because it was done by a relative who manages a reputable shop in Apopka, FL, and because other parts that had not been fixed originally were damaged. The managers at Tuffy Pensacola are nice; the shop is clean; and they offer free beverages (woohoo!). But don`t let that sway you. That`s not what`s important. What`s important is WHO is actually doing the work on your vehicle. What`s his background? Does the owner of this Tuffy screen his mechanics prior to hiring? For how long do his employees stay employed? Can his mechanics be compared to mechanics who work for a dealership? I doubt it. And here`s the kicker: Tuffy Pensacola`s prices are equivalent if not more than a dealership. Words of caution: DON`T LET JUST ANYONE WORK ON YOUR CAR! Mechanics at dealerships have to have an excellent track record.

Beware! I suggested that my so...

Beware! I suggested that my son (a student at UWF) visit here to have an alternator replaced. I checked around for alternator cost - around $140 for a 99 Camry. My son went to this Tuffy and they charged him $268 for the same alternator we could have picked up anywhere - a total bill of $450 for a $140 alternator and an hour of labor. Highway robbery! I told the manager that he represented the reason why mechanics have such a bad name. He didnt`t care. I am a mechanic in Central FL and that job would have cost any customer of mine between $220 and $240. Beware!
