Auto theft suspects arrested in Jemison
The Associated Press
JEMISON -- Authorities have arrested three men suspected in a car theft scandal at Gene Martin Auto Sales in Jemison.
Douglas Gene Martin, 52, of Jemison has been charged with three counts of first degree receiving stolen property, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking meth.

John Ritter of Jemison was also arrested on possession of a controlled substance and was still in the Chilton County Jail.
Anthony Wayne Ladu, 53, of Birmingham was charged with possession of stolen property. He was released Sunday on $10,000 bond.
An investigation began Oct. 12 after a routine traffic stop that turned up a stolen vehicle that had been recently purchased from the Jemison car lot. Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis told the newspaper officers are searching every vehicle on the lot to see if they were stolen.
They are also asking anyone who has bought a vehicle from the dealership who may have had trouble getting car titles or tags to come to the dealership between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to talk to the police or to call the sheriff`s office.
Davis did not say how many stolen vehicles have been found but said he thinks it`s probably less than 100.
Authorities said more charges could be added as they search the dealership`s hundreds of acres and Martin`s personal property.
Police had arrested at least one other suspect but authorities did not immediately release that person`s name.
Davis said he expected the search to last through Friday, which will mark one week since authorities began serving the warrant.
The Chilton County Sheriff`s Department and the four municipal police departments in the county have been searching the property. Officials with the FBI, ATF, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, IRS and others have also been assisting in the investigation.
Jemison Police Chief Brian Stilwell said rumors about finding dead bodies, draining Martin`s lakes or mistreatment of Martin`s animals are all untrue.
