2009 Scion Xb Base Wagon 4-door 2.4l Black Automatic Great Car Holds Up To 5!!!! on 2040-cars
Overland Park, Kansas, United States
The 2009 Scion xB maintains the status quo from last year's major redesign. Still standard is a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i).
The engine is also found in the Scion tC and Toyota's Camry, and it makes a sprightly 158 horsepower. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. All xBs are front-wheel drive. The xB delivers a good, well-controlled ride combined with responsive, nimble handling. Brakes are especially notable, and four-wheel antilock discs, with ventilated discs up front, are standard. Safety is also one of the xB's strong point; stability control, front seat-mounted side air bags, and side curtain bags are all standard. The interior offers a surprisingly roomy back seat good for two adults, or three in a pinch. They're split 60/40 and can fold flat to expand the already-large 21.7-cubic-foot space to handle larger loads. There's a hidden storage tray beneath the back seat for small items like laptops. In front, there are several storage boxes and trays, a driver's armrest, and the front seats can fully recline. A multi-information display with trip computer functions is included, along with orange-lit gauges. The standard 160-watt Pioneer audio system features MP3 and WMA compatibility, digital media player connectivity, and a mini-jack input. It is also one of the few units that displays the device's track, artist, and album information. In addition, the xB includes steering-wheel audio controls. A premium audio system is available as a dealer-installed accessory, and it brings an electroluminescent screen that has customizable "skins" and can play short video clips and images. Scions are sold differently when compared to most car brands. The xB comes in a single specification, with no factory options (except manual or automatic transmission), but there are a number of dealer-installed options aimed at customizing the vehicle for customer needs. For example, among many possible options, these may include a short-shift kit, flashier wheels, or customized interior lighting. |

Scion gets touchscreen audio across the board
Fri, 16 Aug 2013On a constant mission to court younger buyers, Scion will be adding some new in-car technology to its lineup for the 2014 model year. All Scion products will now come standard with a 6.1-inch touchscreen audio head unit that we first saw on the 2014 tC (as shown above).
In standard form, this head unit will feature HD Radio, Bluetooth and auxiliary and USB ports. Opting for the $1,198 BeSpoke Premium system brings navigation, integrated social media apps, geo-located POIs and Aha internet radio.
Other changes announced along with the new touchscreen include new two-tone paint schemes for the 2014 xD, a limited-production iQ and pricing for the 2014 lineup. As shown in the gallery, customers can now choose from silver-on-blue and black-over-grey paint combos. The iQ Monogram gets a burgundy-over-silver paint job with a limited run of just 150 units, and it goes on sale in October starting at $16,520 (not including $755 for destination).
The 2022 Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR 86 aftermarket upgrader's guide
Wed, Sep 1 2021When you own an enthusiast car, there are few events more nerve-wracking than the introduction of its successor. Should you upgrade? Is it worthwhile? What will it cost you to part out your mods and trade up? Well, there's good news for owners of the outgoing Scion FR-S, Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ who are considering an upgrade: You might not have to start with a clean slate. If you’re an owner (or even a casual fan) of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 family of sports coupes, youÂ’re probably already aware that the 2022 models are more like aggressive overhauls than true, ground-up redesigns. Neither company really wants to put a spotlight on the fact that their coupes are a little less "all-new" and a little more "back and better than ever," but in our opinion, this is something Subaru and Toyota should embrace. Why? In a word: continuity. Look no further than the NA (1989-1997) and NB (1999-2005) Mazda Miata. While they are regarded as distinct generations (the NA defined by its pop-up headlights and simpler lines; the NB by its fixed lamps and swoopier styling) and were offered with different equipment packages, the fundamental underlying chassis remained relatively unchanged. This meant that, in many cases at least, buyers could trade up to a new model but bring along some of their factory and aftermarket accessories because theyÂ’d still fit. The BRZ and GR 86 are meant to be fairly bare-bones vehicles, the idea being that they appeal to those who want limited frills at a low cost and those who prefer to view cars as canvases rather than finished masterpieces. A long-running platform makes an excellent candidate for the latter type of car buyer. So, what does that mean for the 2022 BRZ and GR 86? Well, let's break it down by whatÂ’s truly new, whatÂ’s kind-of-new, and whatÂ’s essentially carry-over, with some guidance from Subaru and Toyota engineers. 2022 Subaru BRZ blue action profile View 22 Photos Spankin' new LetÂ’s start with the obvious: the styling. Even if you can find older aftermarket appearance kits that will fit the new BRZ and GR 86 on paper, they probably wonÂ’t bolt up nicely to the new cars due to their sleek new exterior designs. Wings and spoilers might still bolt up, but donÂ’t count on it, and theyÂ’ll probably look disjointed at best anyway.
Scion testing updated FR-S
Thu, Sep 17 2015It looks like Toyota is preparing a mid-cycle update for its critically acclaimed GT86, known here in the US as the Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ. As far as updates go, this one looks to be rather average. Hidden behind the camouflaged front and rear ends, we have new headlights and taillights, which according to our spies looked to be of the LED variety. We wouldn't be shocked to see the GT86 get LED taillights, although fitting the top-of-the-line headlights seems less likely. Supporting that position are the images we have of the actual headlights in action, which don't look quite bright enough to be full LED units. Instead, we'd expect some new form of running light, perhaps with bi-xenon low beams. Aside from the lamps, the front bumper gets a larger, more prominent lower intake, while the rear end sports a redefined bumper that houses larger dual exhaust tips. The size of the spoiler has been increased, too. According to our spies, we should also expect powertrain enhancements – which we can only hope means more power – as well as upgrades to the interior of the GT86. While it's possible that the updates being tested in Germany could be exclusive to the European market, that seems unlikely. We'd expect the same new enhancements to at least find their way to the Scion, if not its Subaru-badged twin. Check out the full battery of spy photos up top. Related Video:
