2006 Scion Tc 2.4l 5spd Greddy Exhaust, New K&n Cold Air Intake, New Tires/parts on 2040-cars
Baltimore, Maryland, United States
2006 Scion TC 2.4L 5SPD with Greddy exhaust, new K&N cold air intake, new tires and many new parts! I purchased this car with a salvage title and I have spent countless hours since October replacing many parts of this car. Below is a list of all parts I replaced and the prices. The tires are new Hankook Ventus HR2 size 215/45R17 which cost $325.00 to purchase and $100.00 to install. Overall, most parts replaced are new, some are used from Scions with low miles. The check engine light was on when I bought the car and I thought it was the oil control valve so I installed a new one. However, it was the VVT solenoid which I also replaced. Currently, the only light illuminated is the SRS light because the front curtain airbags are missing. However, all other airbags are in place. I recently had a Maryland State Inspection and this car has passed. I had to pay $426.00 to modify the exhaust so that it would pass inspection. I have mixed feelings about selling and I have decided to sell if I can break even. I am selling since this car is 14 feet long and parking is a huge issue in Baltimore City. This car is very smooth and drives extremely well. The Greddy high flow muffler makes a strong howl when accelerating and heads turn. The K&N cold air intake I stalled has added between 10-15 horsepower. The car lives around 90-100 mph and can go much faster. The new tires hug the road and the front end work I performed has paid off. Alignment was performed at Pepboys for $79.95 and includes a 1 year warranty (I will include the paperwork). This car corners like a dream and takes off with surprising power. This car doesn't make friends on the road and for some odd reason BMWs seem to hate this car. Note that all prices listed are for the parts alone. If one were to pay a shop to do this work it would've cost a fortune. For example, the rebuilt transaxles cost $130.00 to purchase but would have cost nearly a $800.00-$1000.00 for a shop to install. Also note that not all items needed to be replaced. for example, i replaced the outer tie rods since i was planning on getting an alignment anyway. As far as the title, I was informed by the previous seller that it was involved in a home fire claim. However, there are no signs of fire damage so I suspect that may have been some insurance fraud going on. There is much more to tell about this car and all items replaced below have a story which will take too long to go into here. Questions are welcomed. My feedback score is 100% because I accurately describe items and stand by what I sell. I took the time to do all repairs correctly since I had been planning to keep this car forever. I still may decide to keep it if I don't sell it for a reasonable price. I understand that the title was a previous salvage so the Kelly blue book value of $6907.00 for a car of this mileage with a clear title in good condition is an unrealistic value. However, I would challenge you to find a used car that has been rebuilt to the extent this one has, even used cars with clear titles. One last caveat, these cars have timing chains so you don't need to worry about replacing the timing belt!

Scion testing updated FR-S
Thu, Sep 17 2015It looks like Toyota is preparing a mid-cycle update for its critically acclaimed GT86, known here in the US as the Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ. As far as updates go, this one looks to be rather average. Hidden behind the camouflaged front and rear ends, we have new headlights and taillights, which according to our spies looked to be of the LED variety. We wouldn't be shocked to see the GT86 get LED taillights, although fitting the top-of-the-line headlights seems less likely. Supporting that position are the images we have of the actual headlights in action, which don't look quite bright enough to be full LED units. Instead, we'd expect some new form of running light, perhaps with bi-xenon low beams. Aside from the lamps, the front bumper gets a larger, more prominent lower intake, while the rear end sports a redefined bumper that houses larger dual exhaust tips. The size of the spoiler has been increased, too. According to our spies, we should also expect powertrain enhancements – which we can only hope means more power – as well as upgrades to the interior of the GT86. While it's possible that the updates being tested in Germany could be exclusive to the European market, that seems unlikely. We'd expect the same new enhancements to at least find their way to the Scion, if not its Subaru-badged twin. Check out the full battery of spy photos up top. Related Video:
Toyota confirms C-HR crossover to debut at Geneva
Tue, Oct 20 2015With the compact crossover segment booming with new entries, Toyota soon intends to burst into the popular market with a production version of the C-HR concept. The rakishly styled, little CUV will show off its final face at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next March, and European sales will start before summer, Autocar reports. Customers in the US will likely get to drive the angular model, too. The C-HR concept's chiseled shape is expected to make the transition to the road largely unaltered. According to Autocar, customers reportedly really dig the razor-sharp look versus a more conventional CUV design. A hybrid is also expected to be included in the production powertrain lineup, but non-electrified options could be available, too. The Japanese automaker last displayed the C-HR at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Underneath the avant-garde shape, the Toyota New Global Architecture provided the underpinnings, and a hybrid powertrain was there for propulsion. The concept's general design idea was actually the revival of a three-door crossover from the 2014 Paris Motor Show. In addition, the production C-HR is expected eventually to arrive in the US but likely wearing a Scion badge. Spy shots highly suggest that a crossover is already under development, and the entry would give the division a much-needed challenger to the Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and plenty of others. Plus, the brand is keeping it absolutely no secret that a third, new model is on way to join the iA and iM.
Scion grabs Franco and Urkel in Weird move to sell iM and iA
Tue, Sep 15 2015Scion is prepping the advertising campaign for the new iA and iM and as so many automakers have done before, it's recruited some celebrity talent. It's choice of actors, though, is kind of strange. First, we have Mr. James Franco, star of This Is The End and generally weird dude. He pitches both the iA and iM, playing two different roles. While in the iA, he's James Franco The Actor, while the iM sees him shift into an "experimental artist." Along with talking about how strange it is that "someone so complex" would drive a "practical" car, Scion's narrator goes as far as admitting that it's kind of weird that the budget manufacturer was even able to scoop the Hollywood talent. The second spokesman, though, is even stranger. It's none other than Jaleel White, best known as Steven Q. Urkel from 1990s sitcom Family Matters. He stars alongside, um, Urkel (not to mention a rather annoying laugh track). In a rather weird spot that highlights the dual-zone climate control, White stars alongside a wax figurine of his iconic television character, even dropping one of his famous lines at the end. And finally, while this one doesn't have a celebrity endorsement, Scion prepared a third spot to support its new iA. Featuring a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man, it's perhaps the weirdest of the three videos. We have Franco's video at the top of the page, while the Urkel/White spot and wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man clip are available below. This content is hosted by a third party. Scion Brings the 'Weird' with James Franco and Jaleel White New Ad Campaign for Scion iA and iM Celebrates Everything Out of the Ordinary September 14, 2015 TORRANCE, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2015) – Scion has always been a little weird. With no-haggle pricing, standard premium features and cars shaped like toasters, Scion has proudly done things differently. Now, actors James Franco, Jaleel White, and an inflatable tube man take the all-new Scion iM and iA for a spin in the brand's newest ad campaign, titled "Weird, Right?" This is the largest marketing campaign for Scion since the brand's launch in 2003. The wave of weird contains three :30 TV spots.
