This auction contains a 1999 Saturn SL2. Twin cam engine with 125 horsepower. We have had it for about 4 years and put abut 26,000 miles on it. When I got it it had 175,000 on it and reverse was gone. I replaced the trans with another and has been great for the last 26,000 miles. Tranny fluid is good with no leaks. My daughter has been driving it from college and back when she came home on breaks and some weekends. The trip is 100 miles each way. Never had a problem of any kind. Runs and starts all winter long and is kepted outside. Front wheel drive, traction control and anti lock breaks work super good in the snow and ice. My daughter has been driving it these past winters and never got stuck or had a accident. I have faith in the cars abilities, so I let her drive it.

Tires are in good shape(see pictures). The tires are the same size all around but the front tires were replaced do to lack of alignment. Front tires are different than the back. Had alignment done at local Conrads tire store. Car drives nice now.
Car was bought from a chiarity car lot (Our Lady of the Way Side) so I don't know who owned it be for myself. The fenders are pretty beat up. Mostly scratches and a crack in the front passenger side. Also what looks like a "key job" on the driver side doors. The engine runs good but there is the check engine light it's on. Autozone ran the code and it's the air pump. The light will go off it you disconnect the battery for a fews seconds. Then it will come back on in a few miles. Never affected the drive.
Looking back at some old gas mileage records I found at 176,000 to 179,000 miles it got 34.7 mpg, 28.6 mpg, 30.0 mpg, 32.8 mpg. How you drive and where will make a differents. You should get better on highway.
Sence then I replaced canister purge valve sensor, spark plugs and wires, air filter, battery, brake (shoes/pads).  Plus I'm pretty good at changing the oil every 3000 miles.
She always kept the inside clean and doesn't smoke.
The engine will use a quart of oil every 300 miles or so. You can see a little smoke from the tail pipe if someone is driving behind the car. Not from inside the car, if that helps on that issue.
Kelly Blue Book rates this car at $1800 for a top rated condition, and $1300 for lowest rated condition . I would think the car is some were in there.

Local pick-up is the way to go.
Test drive are good if you have full coverage. (I've seen to many insurance commericals)
North Ridgeville is about 25 miles west of Cleveland
Car is sold "AS IS"and "WHERE IS"
I'm also selling it localy for $1,300. The "buy it now" Ebay removes it after a bid is placed.

AUCTION WILL END SATURDAY AT 1:00 PM LOCAL TIME, EAST COAST

Junkyard Gem: 1996 Saturn SC1

Tue, Apr 3 2018

Before the Saturn marque got locked into a downward spiral of muddled brand image and billion-dollar Opel badge engineering, American car shoppers loved Saturns' plastic bodies and fixed-price buying experience. The original SC coupe looked a bit like the Isuzu-built Geo Storm but was a Michigan design and had a smaller price tag, and it sold well. Here's a final-model-year first-generation SC1, languishing in a Denver-area wrecking yard with nearly 300k on the clock. Saturn S-Series cars were simple machines, and many examples held together for the long haul. This one reached the kind of mileage figure you'd expect to see on a Camry or Civic from the same era. I'm not quite sure what's going on here, but I suspect that the car's final owner performed a bit of spray-foam-and-Bondo bodywork when the rear plastic body panels got munched in a crash. The twin-cam Saturn engines made respectable power, but this car has the 100-horse single-cam under the hood. The car weighed a mere 2,282 pounds, though, so it had about the same power-to-weight ratio as the slightly heavier Honda Del Sol, with a much lower price tag ($12,195 for the SC1 versus $15,250 for the Del Sol). With a manual transmission, which this car has, the SC1 was a lot more fun to drive than most frugal commuter cars of its era. It's no Saturn Ion Redline (an example of which I found nearby in the very same wrecking yard), but still an interesting chapter from the tale of the rise and fall of Saturn. When you want a two-door with some spunk, sleep on it first. Yeah, we're puzzled by this ad, too. Featured Gallery Junked 1996 Saturn SC1 View 14 Photos Auto News Saturn Automotive History Coupe

US database may have overstated deaths in GM ignition switch recall

Fri, Mar 14 2014

The FARS analysis didn't take into account fatal accidents where the airbags weren't supposed to deploy. Earlier today, we reported that the actual death toll attributable to GM's ignition switch problem had crested the 300 mark according to new research, well up from the original reports of 12 to 13 deaths. Now, word is breaking that the US government database that informed the study that the report was based on may have significantly overstated the correlation between the study and the GM recall. The initial study was conducted by Friedman Research on behalf of the Center for Auto Safety, and used something called the US Fatality Analysis Reporting System. To recap, the study claimed that over a 10-year period, 303 people were killed in Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Ion coupes and sedans when their airbags failed to deploy. These undeployed airbags were then linked to GM's ignition switch recall, which as we've explained before, can turn the ignition out of the "run" position and into the "off" or "accessory" position, disabling the airbags in the process. Now, according to a report from The Detroit News, which cites research from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Study Center for Trauma and EMS at the University of Maryland, the FARS analysis didn't take into account fatal accidents in conditions where the airbags weren't supposed to deploy (which isn't to say crashes and deaths weren't caused by loss of control from the ignition switching off in the GM vehicles). According to the report, this was a significant number of the cases. There is another potential problem, too. According to that same report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration uses both FARS and another database on fatalities, called the National Automotive Sampling System/Crashworthiness Data System (NASS/CDS). Where FARS uses what the DetNews calls "not always reliable" police data to record vehicular deaths within 30 days of a crash, NASS/CDS relies on what's known as a probability sample. It collects data on 5,000 crashes each year – including some found in the FARS database – to calculate a probability figure. According to a 2009 IIHS study, "Among crashes common to both databases, NASS/CDS reported deployments for 45 percent of front occupant deaths for which FARS had coded nondeployments." In plain English, FARS doesn't provide a reliable count airbag deployments.

General Motors Recall List

Wed, Oct 22 2014

It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.
